There are much better options.
The Volkswagen Jetta is not a car that you want to purchase. I have tried out many other cars since purchasing this one, and all of them drove much smoother. I am not going to lie, it is able to get you to where you need to go, but that is about it. I also like the fact that there is some decent speed in the car. The truth is though, when everything is factored in, there are much better vehicles for much cheaper that you should consider first. I have the 2011 SE model, and I have driven cars from 1995 that work better. If you are trying to do something like put in a subwoofer and aftermarket head unit, be prepared for a two day long headache. The trunk was very big, so there was plenty of space for two 12" subwoofers, but getting them installed was a disaster and I had to pay twice as much as what somebody who had a Cavalier would have to. I have heard that this is a safe car, but fortunately have not had any experiences which would let me know how it handles a wreck.

Good car sweet gas mileage
Our VW Jetta has been a good car to own. We have had it since it was purchased new in 2002. The interior of the car is decent it provides all of the creature comforts. The mileage of the Diesel engine when we first purchased it was outstanding. On long trips when we tracked it we would generally exceed 47 mpg. As we started a family tracking mileage became secondary. This leads me to the point that the rear seat is a bit too small to fit a single car seat let alone two. We had to place the seat in the center to fit baby one. Another item that was a bit disappointing is the placement of the cup holder. True to German engineering the car is for driving, cup holders were secondary. The cup holder open and comes down in front of the radio. This is annoying. The electrical system has posed a few problems with blown fuses. We had zero issues with the vehicle until we hit 130,000 miles. We recently had to replace the alternator and the catalytic converter. Not bad for owning it 13 years.
