Nice car except for the emissions scandal
I have had several VWs before; this is my first diesel engine one. All in all, it's been reliable and pleasant to drive. There are a few fine points I wish I could update, but the biggest issue has been the revealed diesel emissions problem. Part of my desire for this car was the notion that it was more environmentally benign, and that turns out not to be true.

This was the first car I bought on my own and I absolutely loved it. It was pretty basic when I look back on it now, but I thought it was wonderful in 2006. It got pretty good gas mileage back then and was very reliable.
