Newport News, VA Driving Tips
Take advantage of the back roads! There is a lot of development coming up on the major roads which is great, but there is much more scenery to be had if you know which back roads to go on!
Favorite driving memory
We have a couple rivers bordering the city. My favorite memory was a few years ago when I saw a bald eagle standing right on the shoulder guard of the road. The sky and water looked beautiful and there was a second eagle flying over the river. I was driving and only had a moment to see these birds but I will always remember how majestic they looked.
Favorite road
Oriana. This road goes right past a couple fields that people take their horses in. During the right time of the year the fields are full of wild flowers. There is also a river and a park that borders this road. Sometimes you can see wild life. The road has a relatively low speed limit which makes its curved path safe and allows one to take in the scenery as you move through its bends.

Newport News, VA Driving Tips
Don't come out here at night as it's a very dangerous city, we have one of the highest crime rates in the 757 area code. Traffic gets so bad when the tunnels are closed and these streets are jammed packed so stay away.
Newport News, VA Buying Tips
Go to Virginia Beach and buy off the main road VB BLVD.
Favorite driving memory
I catch a lot of crazy drivers on these roads here in Newport News using my dash-camera. This city houses a lot of low income neighborhoods and most people drive through this city to and from Norfolk, Virginia Beach and Hampton. Our city is like a pass through for most people. I have seen people get hit from crossing four lanes of traffic, I never cross four lanes, I always drive up the street a mile if I have to. This city is crazy and fast pace, there are a lot of bad areas to drive through, such as Jefferson ave.
Favorite road
Jefferson Ave. So many crazy people on this street/road and it connects to a lot of other major roads and highways.
