Be alert while driving. There are many tourists in this area who do not know where they are going and when they are trying to find a street or realize they are not going the wrong way, they brake frequently, stop short, drive slow, etc. Be aware of not only how you are driving but how others are driving as well.

Go to a legitimate dealership. There are many dealerships on Virginia Beach Blvd and I would stick with big names that you know such as Checkered Flag, Chevrolet, Jaguar, Ford, Kia, etc. Smaller dealerships usually are selling run down cars for a higher price and you will end up spending more money on repairs than if you had just gone to a more reputable dealership.
Favorite driving memory
I was in a hurry to get to where I was going on time. The news in Virginia Beach is very good at reporting accidents and major delays and back-ups. I was listening to the news as I was hurrying around one morning trying to get ready and get to my location on time. The news was talking about a major traffic delay on the highway that I needed to use. However, all the roads in Virginia Beach connect and there are so many major roads here that it will only take a few minutes longer than using a free flowing highway. Since the highway was backed up and I know the area very well I was able to navigate my way through different roads and still make it to my destination on time. That is the best thing about driving around in Virginia Beach. It is easy to get anywhere in this city since everything is connected and there are so many different ways to get to the same place.
Favorite road
Lynn Haven Parkway.. Lynn Haven Parkway stretches almost the entire length of Virginia Beach. You can get anywhere in the city from Lynn Haven Parkway. It is quick and easy and most of the traffic lights don't take too long. There are also a whole bunch of different stores along Lynn Haven Parkway so if you ever need anything, it is usually only a few minutes away on Lynn Haven Parkway.

The main roads will offer shopping and restaurants but if you experiment with different ways to get around, you will see the true beauty and uniqueness of Virginia Beach.

Favorite driving memory
The most positive thing about driving in Virginia Beach is that there are many waterways that can be viewed from the road. You could drive by a waterway and see a pelican or crane in the water. Virginia Beach is a very large area, there are popular roads with lots of shopping available. There are also country roads as you head towards southern Virginia Beach. If you drive down Shore drive through First Landing State park, you can experience the state park and head towards the resort area of the oceanfront. A great drive down the "strip" in Virginia Beach is a nice way to see the oceanfront and experience the hustle and excitement of the resort area.
Favorite road
Shore Drive. When you head down Shore Drive in Virginia Beach it will connect you to the oceanfront and the resort area in an "off the beaten track" way. You will drive over the beautiful Lessner Bridge with an amazing view of the Lynnhaven inlet and the Chesapeake Bay. As you head towards the oceanfront on Shore Drive you will drive through First Landing State Park where you have dense trees of the state park forest on either side of Shore Drive. You feel like you have left the city and are traveling through a forest.
