When I first turned 16 I suffered with hand me down cars for about 2 years. When I turned 18, I had a decent job that allowed me to purchase my first brand new car. I chose the Yaris because of its affordability and gas mileage. I have had this care since 2008, nearly 100k miles, and have successfully driven across America in it, and brought home two babies from the hospital. I love this car, and would instantly buy it again should the day come when it finally stops working.
Story
I used to live on a mountain, and I would cram 5 people into my little Yaris. That car, even with 5 people, could easily zoom down the mountain and make for a super fun ride.
Pros
The gas mileage is awesome. I get about 36+ per gallon, and this saves me a lot of money on fill ups. I love the smaller size of the car. I can park easily, maneuver around traffic, and though I am a big guy, I still have enough room for my legs/head. I love the trunk size. The Yaris is not a big car, but don't let it's size fool you. Plenty of leg room, and plenty of trunk space to go around.
Cons
Probably my one and only complaint with this car is the recalls that have happened in the past 10 years. Toyota is always really good with replacing the faulty parts, however, so the con is really just the time involved in getting the car fixed at the dealership.

In short, I love this car. It's perfect if you want something that's economical yet reliable. It's cute but not flashy. The interior is much the same, though it may take some people a little while to get used to the odometer and all that being in the middle of the dash instead of directly in front of the driver. At the time it had the best combination of gas mileage/price of the car. It may still, there are many cars on the market with that get more mpg (I get about 35 in the city and 42 on the highway), but they're drastically more expensive. It's not the most luxurious car, but it's comfortable. I've taken it on many long trips. It's pretty roomy for such a small car, though my friends that are well over 6' have mentioned it being uncomfortable. It has a surprising amount of trunk sp... (more)
Pros
economical good on gas cute small, easy to park comfortable reliable
Cons
sluggish acceleration light - ride is a little bumpy/loud sometimes a little cramped for tall people

Salesperson was very friendly and knowledgeable. He was easy to work with and did not try to play games to sell us a more expensive car than we came for. He showed us exactly what we asked for.

The salesman went through a bunch of cars for both my parents and myself and eventually found me my perfect car. It cost more than I wanted to spend but it has been amazing and I have no regrets.
