Purchased a 2012 Black Toyota Highlander SE a month ago and so far is on the top of the list for my favorite vehicles owned to date. Spent a lot of time looking for the perfect SUV for my family with 2 children and a dog.
Story
One trip we went through a flooded road around a bend, didn't see the water and splashed water up over the vehicle and down through the sunroof and onto the boys in the back. It was like a water park ride! The leather allowed it to dry up nicely and the most important part was that the all wheel drive didn't hesitate to go right though without losing grip.
Pros
Spacious and perfect vehicle for our family with 2 boys and dog. The 3.5L V6 is a very hearty engine and feels smooth with plenty of pickup, especially for the size of the vehicle. Drives like a luxury car in an SUV bod, doesn't "feel like a truck" like some SUVs. Very pleased with the SE (and I'm sure Limited would be similar) in that the interior is great with the stain resistant leather and the sunroof and backup camera. The AWD/4WD makes it handle wonderfully in the rain and most likely snow.
Cons
So far not much besides the gas mileage (estimating around 16.8mpg city/highway averaged together) not being that great, but that is the tradeoff getting the V6 vs. the Hybrid. Small sacrifice to pay to have it feel so wonderful to drive.

Overall, I'd say the vehicle was an excellent choice and one that has held up very well over the years. After owning it for some 15 years, the car has only had two major issues, both of which were fixed relatively easily by replacing a part. It's been a remarkably stable car, and I'm excited to keep driving it. Decent build quality that's lasted very well through the years.
Story
Drove cross country, some 2,000 miles over the span of three days and had a great time doing it.
Pros
The best thing about the vehicle is just how reliable it is. Right now, I've had the car for just over 15 years, and the engine is still running strong. With proper maintenance, I've gotten it well past 200k miles, with hopes to bring it to 300 within a few years. The car still drives great, feels smooth and is remarkably comfortable given how old the car really is. Even the interior leather has held up well without any cracks.
Cons
While not an issue for a few years, the car has recently developed a series of rattles and shakes as it drives. In addition, something is worn out in the transmission, and it can have issues automatically switching gears, almost getting stuck in a gear as the RPM redlines but the car refuses to go up. The speaker system has also aged with time and rattles in the door when subjected to heavy bass and loud music.

They had exactly the car that I was looking for with the exact upgrades I wanted on it. I was there on the last day of a promotion and wanted to buy the car immediately. We were there until very late that night. We traded in 2 cars and even got to drive the Highlander home that night. The sales people did not try to talk us into anything and when they needed to add one thing to the car they provided me with a rental and a second full tank of gas for the new car for the inconvenience.

The customer service is fantastic. Sometimes, car dealerships have hidden charges, or aren't completely honest or fair with their prices. Not so at AutoNation Toyota Scion. All costs are declared openly and upfront, the staff are kind, patient, honest, knowledgeable and understanding. They know how to make a sell without making the customer feel pressured.
