My Honda CRV has been a reliable and dependable vehicle for the 8 plus years I've owned it. It gets very good mileage on the highway (31 - 32 mpg) and is a comfortable size for an SUV - easy to park and maneuver. I've had the usual maintenance issues for a vehicle older than 5 years but nothing that I feel is too much to bear. It's my first SUV and I love the height of the driver's position, and it doesn't feel like I'm driving anything larger than a compact car. The LX trim I chose is not top-of-the-line (that would be the EX) but I'm very happy with the vehicle. I will definitely be looking at another Honda CRV when it comes time to trade this one in.
Story
My mom couldn't figure out why I made the horn beep after we got out of the vehicle after driving somewhere. I explained to her that I was verifying that I had locked the vehicle. She thought that was odd, but began to do that very same thing with her own car.
Pros
Highway mpg, driver height, size of the vehicle.
Cons
Lack of defrost elements for the side mirrors, not great mpg for city driving, problems with the electric locks.
