I like the dependability. I've been driving this car to and from work at my current job for about a year now. My current job is about 75 miles away, so I've added a lot of miles to my car. However, my Honda Civic is still running very smoothly. One thing that is wrong with it now is that whenever the air conditioning is on, a weird squealing sound comes from the engine. I think it's some kind of belt. It mostly happens when I first start driving, or when I accelerate after a being at a red light. When that happens, I have to turn off the air conditioning, then turn it on again when I get above a certain speed, which is usually about 45 miles per hour. I've notice when I do that, my car accelerates faster without the air conditioning. I like how long the car lasts too. I bought this car... (more)
Story
This is a small car. I drive across a frequently closed bridge every day to work. However, they allow my small car through because the wind won't affect my car as much as it would an 18 wheeler. This is a ~20-mile long bridge spanning the Chesapeake Bay and at least one truck is blown over the side of the bridge once a year, but cars my size have never been blown off.
Pros
This car will keep driving until it reaches 350,000 miles, hopefully. It is very dependable. It has very low maintenance that I have to do to it. Hardly anything breaks. The gas millage is great. I believe I get somewhere around 35 miles per gallon with this Honda Civic. This is especially nice when my commute to work is a 60-mile per hour trip most of the way. I would be paying hundreds of dollars more per year if I was driving anything else. This is a small car. I drive across a frequently closed bridge every day to work. Cons
The headlights are pretty dim. Whenever I turn them on, I sometimes think that they aren't even on. I've cleaned them several times. I've changed the light bulbs several times. They do their job, but they don't seem like I can see very well. At least I'm not blinding anyone when I drive home from work in the dark, like they do to me. My car doesn't have cruise control. When I have to drive in a straight line for and hour and 15 minutes, I don't want to have to keep my foot on the pedal the entire time. Cruise control would be nice, so I won't keep getting shin splints while driving. My dri... (more)

When the transmission went out on my SUV, we were facing a car payment unexpectedly. I immediately took to the internet to research the most cost efficient and reliable vehicles, because I travel a lot with my children. We landed on the Honda Civic and have not been disappointed. The car rides smoothly and the seats are comfortable for those long trips between our Navy duty station and "home." My kids (8 and 11) are comfortable in the back seat and have plenty of room for their blankets, pillows, art supplies, and electronics. We have spent many hours in this car and the gas mileage is fantastic. We can get 42 mpg on the interstate, if we drive efficiently, but we usually average 36 mpg. When we traveled to a conference recently, we stayed in a hotel with valet parking, and I was grate... (more)

When we settled into our hotel for Awesome-Con in Washington, D.C., I realized that I didn't have our Awesome-Con tickets! I began to worry that I'd have to make the two-hour drive back home to get them but decided to look through our other belongings in the car first. We'd planned a long trip home to FL right after the Con, so our trunk was full of clothes and toys for that trip. The valet br... (more)
Pros

I was able to see used vehicles online without going to the site. I found a reasonable priced car and went to the site, Once I got there I was able to negotiate the price to get it cheaper.
