This is the first car that I purchased after High School. I bought the 2001 Chevy Malibu in 2004 as a certified pre owned vehicle. I loved the car when I first bought it and it was a safe reliable vehicle for a young college student. I have owned the car for over ten years and it has never let my down.
Story
This is the car I brought both of my kids home from the hospital in. We have taken multiple road trips and trips to the beach in this car. The car was a good balance of affordability and space.
Pros
The Chevy Malibu is a reliable vehicle that has been driven by myself and my family for over ten years. The back seat had plenty of space for my two kids car seats. The car got decent gas mileage for an older vehicle and never had any major problems. This car has seen me through my college years all the way to motherhood. I feel a deep sense of attachment to my "Bu".
Cons
The main problem I had with my Malibu is with the air condition. It seemed like the air would not stay cool for long, even after I had the system checked and more coolant was added. It is a reliable vehicle but very basic. The car also did not have much power so if you like to drive fast this is not the car for you. This is a good family car but not the car you would think of for showing off or going fast.

2013 Chevrolet Malibu - It's okay. It's just okay.

I like the way the car looks from a distance. Close up the interior is made from the cheapest materials possible, and since it's black, it always needs to be washed. My main problem with this car is that it gives a choppy ride and random, seemingly insignificant things can render it useless.
Story
My daughter and I were waiting for a family member to come out the airport during a storm and were able to connect my laptop's to the car via Bluetooth. We ended up waiting for 45 minutes but didn't even notice the time pass thanks to our makeshift movie theatre.
Pros
It looks fantastic and gets great gas mileage.
Cons
When I mentioned that seemingly insignificant things can render it useless -- I meant it. Around 60K miles, the car started stalling everyday. After two months of taking it the dealership repeatedly, which caused huge bills but no resolution, I randomly found a forum online where someone had the same problem and fixed it by changing the cabin air filter. I have no idea why it worked, but it did. So a ten-minute, five-dollar fix -- cost me three months of stress (I had given up on the dealership mechanics at that point), several days of work, and thousands in repair bills and towing fees.
