Used Chevrolet Prizm for Sale

When I purchased my vehicle, I was looking for something that is good on gas, easy on my insurance and dependable. I decided to buy the Prizm, since it's basically a Toyota Corolla with a Chevy stamp on it. I've owned it for a couple years now, and I really like it. Sure, it isn't anything special visually, but I've put minimal maintenance into it, it starts every time (even in cold Minnesota winters) and has enough get up and go for me. It gets great gas mileage, yet still has no issues hitting 70 on the interstate. It has plenty of basic options for me (CD, keyless entry, power locks and windows, etc.) and they all still work perfectly.

For several years through a partnership with Toyota, GM built the Prizm based on the Corolla platform. The body is mostly similar, the engine and transmission are the same. The only difference is the radio and maybe a few mechanical parts. While the Corolla maintained their resale value, the Prizm did not, which is why you can find one for less money. I've had this particular vehicle for several years and have never had a major problem. I've spent more money on tires and oil changes than I have in repairs. I've been able to do all of the work myself since the vehicle is not very complicated and has few options other than air conditioning.

I bought this car as a professional mechanic from a customer after the engine failed due to low oil from a known, common engine oil consumption problem with these engines in the first few years of manufacture. I was able to replace the engine with one from a newer Corolla (2007) which does not have the oil consumption problem. Due to this failure, I was able to purchase it for a very low price. It took some time to find a good engine that did not have the oil problem at a good price.
