Great little car
The hatchback Kia Rio5 manual transmission is a fun little car to drive. Handles well in all conditions, zippy acceleration. The base model is truly that, including only AC and AM/FM/CD, you'll be cranking the windows up and down manually and holding the door handles to lock it. However, it has plenty of room inside for 4-5 people and the hatchback helps with additional storage. Parts are inexpensive and easy to replace, I've had a mechanic tell me it was easy to work on, which means less dollars out of pocket for labor costs. Four-doors and it's easy access in and out for you and your friends and family. Acceleration is lacking but what can you expect for a 4-cylinder? The gas mileage runs about 28-30mpg city/hwy combined which is pretty good and I enjoy not visiting the gas station often. The Kia Rio5 has been inexpensive to own and maintain which is really all I wanted from a subcompact, non-aspirational vehicle make. The interior cloth has held up exceptionally well, though the steering wheel cover is starting to show some wear (after 10 years).

Little car with a lot of punch
We purchased the Kia Rio5 on a whim, because we needed a newer car that wasn't going to present us with the same issues we were having. This car wasn't exactly our first choice, but after riding in it, we decided to purchase anyway. So glad we did; this little car can really go places. We moved to another state, and we were able to fit so much into it, without struggling for comfort. The gas mileage is also excellent, we average about 29mpg, but it has been better. One thing that is really great is the traction control system. That has been a lifesaver for us. The state we previously resided in was super rainy, so having that kick in to prevent hydroplaning was awesome. Here we get a ton of snow and ice, so it's very helpful keeping us on the road with those. This is the best feature of the car. The USB port to charge another electronic device is great as well, because you don't have to use the power socket that you'd need to use in other cars. It can also climb mountains very easily, other cars we've had could barely get up the hills here.

An Average Car
The build quality for this car is average. There are some slight exterior rattles, but this car does get very good gas mileage and has been very reliable since I purchased the vehicle. It is a four cylinder car so it does not have much power, but I've had no mechanical issues with the car so far and I have put on about 18,000 miles since I purchased the vehicle a year and a half ago. There have been no issues with any electronic components, including my stereo system. The car does have a hatchback, which is good if you would like to transport some items, as the back seats do fold down, which is pretty helpful.
