Good news for Toyota’s TRD Pro fans: the coveted trio of offroaders is getting an upgrade for 2019.

Toyota unveiled TRD Pro versions of the midsize Tacoma and full size Tundra trucks and the 4Runner SUV this week at the 2018 Chicago Auto Show. 

The three models offer revised -- but still beefy -- suspension systems, a variety of off road-oriented upgrades and a new paint color called Voodoo Blue.

Toyota’s TRD Pro lineup is a popular option since the automaker first introduced it in 2014. This high-end trim level sits near the top of each model’s lineup and packs in robust off road capabilities and amenities. 

For 2019, the big news is the suspension upgrades. They’re highlighted by a switch to shocks built by offroad suspension guru Fox -- previously only the Tacoma used Fox while the 4Runner and the Tundra used Bilstein. 

Here's a look at the three models:

__The Tacoma TRD Pro__ gets a host of new upgrades, likely in an effort to stave off competition from Chevy’s feisty Colorado ZR2 off road-oriented truck. 

Thus, the Toyota gets a new skid plate up front, Rigid Industries LED fog lights and a cat-back exhaust at the rear. Inside, the Tacoma TRD Pro now has a standard JBL sound system, leather seats and TRD badging.

The Tacoma also gets an optional snorkel, a feature found on serious off road vehicles that looks exactly like it sounds and allows the engine to breathe cleaner air or cross through deep water without ruining the engine. 

Toyota isn’t calling it a snorkel though. Leaving no good marketing opportunity unturned, the automaker would like you to know it’s called the TRD Desert Air Intake. 

__The larger Tundra TRD Pro__, which was absent for 2018, returns for 2019 with new 18-inch wheels, Rigid Industries LED fog lights, leather seats and an upgraded exhaust system.

__The lone SUV of the TRD Pro family -- the 4Runner__ -- gets its own upgrades including a new roof rack, skid plate and the same JBL stereo upgrade as the Tacoma. 

All three models will be available this fall. Prices haven’t been announced but shouldn’t vary too much from the 2018 models; a 4Runner TRD Pro currently starts at $43,870 and a Tacoma TRD Pro starts at $42,515. 

Toyota is tweaking its TRD Pro lineup of off-road-oriented models for 2019, including the 4Runner, Tacoma and Tundra.
