2008 Ford Escape - 2008 Ford Escape: not quite flawless.
Overall, I love my Ford Escape, though there were a few things that Ford could have done differently to make this car better. First, the power steering is not hydraulic, it's electronic. Shortly after purchasing the car (used), the power steering went out. Since it was electronic it was not a quick or inexpensive fix. My vehicle was in the shop over two weeks to replace a part totaling over $400.00 before labor. 2008 is apparently the first year the power steering was like this in the Ford Escape. My Ford Escape indicates important information about my vehicle which is a very helpful feature. Recently, it said low tire pressure. Now this is a very, very minor issue, but it would be nice if it told me which tire was low. Obviously it has the sensors to detect low tire pressure, but it w... (more)

Not a big deal, it would just be helpful. Overall I love my Ford Escape. It handles very well, it is a reliable vehicle, and has features that I love which are an added benefit. The back cargo area is large enough to fit a side-by-side double stroller which is important to me. I'm considering the possibility of needing a new vehicle unfortunately due to my family growing, but I really don't want to get rid of my Ford Escape because I love it so much!
Driving has always been relaxing to me, and I had a route I used to drive through the mountains in Colorado consistently in my Ford Escape. It handled very well through the winding mountain roads. Driving through that area listening to music when I was by myself was so relaxing. My Ford Escape has also been part of many trips to zoos, road trips, moving from Colorado to Kansas, and trips to the airport to pick up my husband who is a soldier. Many happy memories in my Ford Escape.
The Ford Escape has been reliable (besides the one time the power steering went out). It handles and performs very well. It is always in 4WD and handles pretty well in the snow as well. My Ford Escape has features that I really enjoy having such as a sunroof, cruise control, electronic mirrors, electronic indicators for MPH, fuel level, service reminders, and issues with the vehicle. The cargo area is pretty large.

Electronic power steering is expensive to fix! That's really my only real complaint about the 2008 Ford Escape.

2011 Ford Escape - Safe and warm
I purchased this vehicle after I totaled my previous one in a car accident. I wanted something that was heavy, had space for multiple children and pets, would run well on all terrain, had a lot of "get-up-and-go," and most importantly, would keep my family safe if we ever had another major accident. In addition, we had become accustomed to some of the creature comforts of our previous vehicle. So I looked at older models rather than new vehicles so we could also get some of the bells and whistles. The Ford Escape gives us all of those factors and more. We couldn't be happier with this vehicle. The 2011 model of the Escape has the older body frame that I like. It is more angular and solid looking, almost like a truck, but fully enclosed. The XLT has auto-sensing four-wheel drive, which provides amazing traction on slick, snowy, gravelly, and uneven road surfaces. We can stow gear in the area behind the rear seat or on top. The V6 engine provides a lot of kick. Just one step on the gas and we're going full speed on the freeway. It rides smoothly, without any rattles or shaking. It runs quietly and is comfortable inside.
While looking for a new car, we wanted something that met our safety concerns, looked good, and definitely was not white. But when we found this one, we were so happy with everything, we decided that we could live with white. We live in the Rocky Mountains, so when Christmas came, we decided to go cut our own tree. While looking for a new car, we wanted something that met our safety concerns, looked good, and definitely was not white. But when we found this one, we were so happy with everything, we decided that we could live with white. We live in the Rocky Mountains, so when Christmas came, we decided to go cut our own tree. The area we selected only allowed 4WD vehicles. We had never been able to take this option. We easily climbed over snow banks and icy terrain. The car was so stable and overcame any challenge we faced. It reminded me of a mountain beast! And since it was white, I named it "Yeti"... my Rocky Mountain beast. This has endeared me to my white vehicle so that I no longer see it as a color, but as a creature that wraps my family in protection and strength.
