The car is an overall great car. I am a very sporty individual, and love fast cars. For an SUV, this car preforms very well. As an individual with a heavy foot, it does great on gas. Build quality is alright. The body seems cheap and weak.

The 2002 Ford Escape is a fun and exciting car to drive. The 3.0 V6 engine is strong and provides great pickup and acceleration. The transmission is reliable and shifts very smoothly. The interior offers adequate comfort and stylishness. The Ford Escape drives like a car but can get over most hills and through most trails. The trunk area has plenty of room for all types of equipment, gear and/or groceries. On the downside, there is a problem with the coils. It seems the coils go out every 50,000 miles. This may be a defect but Ford never fixed it. The axles and front end can also be a problem. The engine does tend to leak all fluids which if not kept in check can cause problems.
