1992 Jeep Wrangler - Rust bucket
The 1992 Jeep Wrangler YJ is a vehicle worthy of a mechanic with a lot of free time. The design on the vehicle is sturdy, often used as an off-road vehicle, this Jeep will hold up. However, with the many downsides and areas of failure, this Jeep is not for the daily driver unless you like spending money on repairs.
Historia
Off-roading our vehicle on the local trails. It was the nature exploration that brought us to the vehicles.
A Favor
The pros of this vehicle include the leaf spring design that allows it to be driven daily in bumpy or damaged areas without failure of suspension equipment. Also, the body is simple and easy to diagnose issues if any arise. Used often as an off-road vehicle, it is more than capable of out wheeling any modern day Jeep.
En Contra
The downsides of this Jeep is the lack of safety for small repairs. Often times, water leakage can turn into a rusty floorboard needing replacement. Rust and the weakly designed driver and passenger side front frame rails means you either need to live outside the rust belt or understand a frame swap may be a necessary repair some day.
2001 Jeep Wrangler - Great do anything vehicle. Didn't buy it to get good gas mileage

Up until 2007 these things were made to last, mostly metal, now the new ones are mostly plastic. It is a very utilitarian vehicle and looks better with scratches, dents, and mud on it. It also doesn't bother me that it's not in the most pristine condition because it's a Jeep. The ride is rough and I would say it handles better and is more comfortable off-road. I'm fairly tall (6'4) but I fit comfortably, however if their is an average size person behind me they wouldn't. You would be surprised at how much you can actually carry with a little planning. I ripped out the carpet and with a soft top you can hear wind noise, however still able... (more)
