2001 Porsche 911 - The ups and downs of Porsche.
I don't think I've met a Porsche I don't like in some ways, but they definitely have some oddities that only show after years of ownership. They're fast, good-looking, and a lot of fun to drive. It's hard to beat the sound and pull of a German, flat-six above 5k rpm. I'd have to suggest a manual transmission and insist on proactively finding your method of repair and alignment. They're finicky, and I've learned the hard way that many shops aren't equipped to properly take care of a Porsche.

I took the car to a race track one time and got to safely experience what these vehicles are capable of. It's a blast to feel your tires gripping on as you take a turn over 50MPH and blast past the straight away over 100 MPH.

A rear flat-six sounds great and handles well. It's a driver's car. The mechanics are surprisingly easier to learn and repair than you'd expect of a German machine. Gas mileage isn't horrible.

Repairs can be costly if you aren't prepared. Some aspects of build make you scratch your head. Take, for instance, the coolant pipes in some of the SUVs are made of plastic that is guaranteed to break after enough heat cycles. All models from 1998–2008 have a serious fault that if it fails, the engine catastrophically fails. It's called IMS. A manual can be annoying to use in traffic. Tires are wide and expensive.
