2002 Subaru Forester - Sturdy but worn
This car has held up extremely well. I bought this car around 115,000 miles, and it has done well for the past 10,000 miles that I have added to that. Unfortunately, the inside seems extremely susceptible to wear and tear. There are scratches on the dashboard, the cup holder is a bit off, and the air conditioner vents whistle occasionally. The outside is fine and looks rugged.
Historia
The fondest memory I have with this car is the camping trip I took last year with friends, which led to some driving around in mud to find a campsite.
A Favor
This car is great for camping: it can go on gravel or dirt roads easily, especially with the four-wheel drive. It has a roomy trunk to fit all packs and/or my dog. This model has a moon roof, which is great on those cool, breezy summer night drives. Specifically, the trunk has a great rubber mat that is easily removed for simple cleaning.
En Contra
It looks rather old and outdated. The console has a tape player. The middle console is extremely low, and the seats do not have arm rests, and this leads to discomfort on long road trips. The middle console cup holder is also square and does not fix most cups.
2011 Subaru Forester - Very reliable
It is a very reliable car, with decent miles per gallon and consistent performance. It was my first car as a teen driver, so I was unsure when I was first driving. However, it was very forgiving, and it was enjoyable to drive it. I hope to own it for a very long time. It has held up well to the test of time, with only the minimal maintenance required.
Historia
I took it on a road trip from Houston all the way to San Diego, and it performed wonderfully.
A Favor
My favorite thing about the car is the relative spaciousness of the cabin, especially for a mid-size SUV like the Forester. It is a relatively smooth ride and performs well for a car in its price range. The mileage is decent, and the outward appearance is attractive, unlike the new models of the Foresters. It is also good for road trips.
En Contra
It only has two rows and five seats, which is inconvenient for large groups. The trunk is also a bit cramped, so large cargo must be transported other ways. The mileage could also be better, but it is acceptable. On rougher highways, the cabin is quite loud. The seats feel cheap, and the interior still feels cheap.
