2003 Toyota Tacoma - Sturdy car, but has performance issues related to acceleration and mileage.
This vehicle is my first car. It was very roomy on the inside despite being a 3 seater. However, it is not roomy enough to sleep inside overnight. The seats are made of fabric and can get quite dirty. Overall, it has been a very reliable car, with only having a startup malfunction when it was around 140,000 miles. The car has been using 87 gas and runs fine now at 190,000. The major con of this car is being able to drive at stable speeds of 80 when going uphill. It has to be floored to be around 67mph. It can carry heavy loads and the ride becomes more stable when carrying heavy loads also.
Historia
My first accident happened in a best-buy parking lot. I bumped into a car with the man standing right in front of it. My light broke but his car was unscathed, so he let me off the hook. The old plastic of the car saved me a lot of money.
A Favor
The car has a strong build, and a simplistic interior that is easy to clean. There are no moving parts/racketing to this day, where it now has 190,000 miles. Its large bed is capable of carrying many things, much more than a 5 seater Tacoma of its year.
En Contra
The car's interior parts are reliable up until about 150,000 miles. The container containing windshield wash fluid cracked from old age. The hood was first difficult to open because the latch is inside the grill of the car. There was no visible label on how to open it, and it was finally found when it was about 150,000 miles. The acceleration in the car is very bad, and I have trouble catching up to speed when entering the freeway. It is especially bad when going uphill. Going uphill, it is hard to maintain a speed greater than 80mph (160,000 miles). The mileage is very bad however, at aro... (more)
1995 Toyota Tacoma - An oldie but a goodie!
This has been a very reliable vehicle. It is a 1995, which means it's rapidly approaching its 20-year birthday, but it has not underperformed a day in its life. Even the wear and tear on the vehicle has been fairly minimal, given its age. I have had to do minimal maintenance compared to my previous vehicle (a 1994 Pontiac Grand Prix) where things seemed to be breaking left and right, month after month. I suppose the only things I really dislike about this vehicle are the lack of features, i.e. power windows, power locks, etc. It has the original cassette player installed, however, I have gotten around this inconvenience by using a cassette-to-mp3 player adapter. I have also used this with my phone (using Spotify/Pandora/etc.) so it has not been too much of an issue. I believe since thi... (more)
Historia
Despite its age, this was always the "chosen" vehicle to make out-of-state trips, including to Vegas, Texas, etc. I have many fond "road trip" memories in this truck.
A Favor
Minimal maintenance required. I like how "high" the vehicle sits (i.e. not as low to the ground as a typical car). Sturdy construction, reliable.
En Contra
Lack of power locks and windows. Minimal cargo space. "Rough" ride. Stock features such as cassette player. No window tint.

They were very quick and efficient. They also had the biggest stock variety to choose from.
