I purchased my car for $4,000 with the assurance it was in good running condition. It met my needs in that it had A/C, 4WD, and four doors. Unfortunately, it costs me another $4,000 to get a new engine put in less than two months after buying it. The dealer had lied about its engine, which was actually badly malfunctioning. I even tried suing the dealer but lost in court. The car itself runs good now. The clear coat is peeling from the paint, and the interior has some issues with vinyl coming unglued. But it performs like a dream and seems to be reliable with the new engine. I'd buy the model again but only from a reputable dealer and with written assurances as to its quality.
Story
I do remember it breaking down not long after purchase and being very angry.
Pros
It has four-wheel drive, which is good for my rural home where it snows frequently. The A/C works, and it has a six-CD changer. There is plenty of room for my children.
Cons
The engine had a bent rod that was causing the head gasket to blow repeatedly. Engine had to be replaced shortly after purchase. Clear coat peels off the hood. Vinyl comes unglued from interior.

2005 Ford Escape - Needs some TLC, but the 4WD and A/C works great.

I like that my Escape is a 4x4 since I live in a rural area where it snows a lot. I like that the A/C works well and it has a 6 disc changer. The exterior needs some loving aesthetically in both the interior and exterior. Also needs a little mechanical help.
Story
So far our Escape hasn't been through anything crazy. But we'll be tearing up some snow this winter.
Pros
Got a decent price at $4,000. All of the power features work correctly. It's got good tires and the 4x4 will keep us from being snowed in. It's comfortable enough for my 6'3" frame.
Cons
The clear coat is peeling on the hood. Inside, some of the leather door trim has come undone and the leather covering on the center compartment has been torn. The check engine light was on when we bought the car. Recently it started over heating even though we've only owned it a month. One mirror is a replacement and we didn't know that when we bought it. But it doesn't angle correctly to see oncoming traffic from the driver's side. It also misses occasionally and probably needs new plugs and wires.

I was looking for a manual transmission car. They had one at what I considered to be a really good price for a brand new car.

I have purchased numerous cars at this dealership. The sales people have always been helpful without overbearing. I also appreciate a loaner vehicle during maintenance.
