2008 Ford Escape - Reliable, inexpensive, and spacious
This car is great. Not only is it reliable (240k miles and going strong!) but there's a ton of space in this thing. The back seats fold down to create extra surface area, which is great for transporting things that are long or bulky. The racks on the top are especially handy for hauling things that perhaps will not fit inside of the car (Christmas tree, anyone?) This car has served me incredibly well. It's taken me on more road-trips than I can even begin to recall. If I had the choice to go back and purchase a different car, I wouldn't. I love this car like it's family.
Story
I live in New Orleans (yeah, the place that floods a lot), so it's a great advantage to drive a car that is high off the ground.
Pros
There's so much space in here already but having the ability to lay the back seats down is incredibly helpful. The seats are comfortable, and the A/C system is still efficient. The factory sound system isn't too bad either.
Cons
The only cons I can think of are the changes Ford made to the body style of the post-2012 Escapes.
2016 Ford Escape - Great crossover, not too big/not too little.
I actually won this vehicle in a sweepstakes, so I get a lot of questions about the winning process not really the car I choose. After learning I won a Ford vehicle of my choice (up to $30,000), I did a great deal of research on what would be my best option without leaving 'money on the table,' and I decided on the Escape. It's a crossover SUV that's not too big or too little. It was roughly the same size of the vehicle I was currently driving. Had the better package for the money I had to spend. Great safety features and a leather/cloth seat hybrid I really thought to be ideal with my kids. The Escape also has some great get up and go when driving on the highway or any road; she can move when I need to get out of the way.
Pros
Back-up camera which my kids absolute love -- that is their favorite part of the car, watching the back-up cam. I love the leather/cloth hybrid seats! They have leather where the wear and tear of movement would be and cloth to keep you from burning in areas you don't want to burn. The gas mileage is really outstanding. She's a 16-gallon tank that I can average about 20 miles a gallon on. And, yes, she is a she. Her name is Robin. Anyway, she also has awesome get up and go. You press the gas and you can move out of anything's way in a hurry. I really like that for around here (we don't have... (more)
Cons
There is a serious blind spot on the front passenger door jam. I'm a short person, so I have to ride the dash to drive. I have no idea how to correct it because for an average person, that's not a problem, so I've been told.

2015 Ford Explorer - Gateway Ford Ponchatoula
This dealership went above and beyond to provide me with a car in our price range. They gave us a very fair deal on our car that we traded in, and I feel that all in all we had a great experience with them.
