Great value and versatility
My first SUV. The ride is much more smooth and comfortable than I anticipated. Seats hug you, yet stay firm enough for comfort. Ability to flip the seats in different directions allows versatility for storage, in the middle, back row, or all the way through for large items. I was able to fit a large BBQ grill in the back with both rows folded down. The Bluetooth SYNC is a great feature, but difficult to operate when multiple people share it using different devices. Handled an extremely heavy trailer pulling from the West Coast to Florida. Ride was still comfortable, vehicle had great traction and stopping ability, and mileage was great. I have just over 30,000 miles on it now, and the experience is still as good as when I first got it.

The tank.
The Ford Explorer, 2003, is an absolute tank. As for it's cons, it has Low-grade interior materials, and quirky ergonomics. However, it make up greatly for this by having Independent rear suspension, comfortable seating for up to seven, strong powertrains, foolproof Control Trac 4WD, available rollover protection system, optional stability control system, and a DVD-based entertainment system. We have owned a 98 and 99 Explorer in the past and loved them so wanted another one when we were looking for a second vehicle. We wanted the newer style but had to stay within budget so we found a 2003 that we feel in love with. It's a Limited so it has the 2 extra seats in the back. I myself haven't sat back there but our 10 year old said when she did, it is tight but it works for having the extra seating when needed. We love everything with it from the sunroof, leather seats, back up assist, adjustable brake pedal, dual temperature controls and keyless entry and more. We got this one for a really good price, better then others we have found and it had 163,000 miles on it. The only downside was the tires need to be replaces asap, but otherwise it's in great condition so whoever had it before took care of it. It's a smooth ride and can't even tell it's running when idle. We later found out it even has side airbags so that makes it even safer.
