Ford Focus Owner Ratings & Reviews

2012 Ford Focus - Would not buy again.
I purchased this car used in September of 2014 and loved it. However, as time has progressed, I have learned that these models have had several recalls and problems. Some of these problems are a problem with the door handles, transmission slipping, and power steering problems. Right now, the car is sitting in my garage undriveable because the power steering has gone out. This is a problem Ford is aware of and has not bothered to do a recall on. The repair will take around $2,500.00 with $1,100.00 of that amount being for parts. Transmission also occasionally slips.
Story
I enjoy driving this car around town because it handles very well. It is useful in town because the size is a good size to handle. Parking is not a problem, and gas mileage is wonderful. If not for the known problems that Ford is aware of and could have repaired, it would be a wonderful car. I guess if I have a fun or memorable story about the car it would be when I went from a Geo Metro to th... (more)
Pros
I loved the car to begin with. It is a good size for my family and gets excellent gas mileage. It handles well and has plenty of power. The interior is nice, and the exterior collar is beautiful. It is a sporty-looking car and looks very nice.
Cons
The negative things are the power steering going out and the transmission occasionally slipping.
2005 Ford Focus - Ford Focus: Pretty Neat
The Ford Focus is a remarkably sensible car, affordable and perfect for casual drivers, like myself, who aren't interested in cars as anything more than a way of getting from point A to point B. I fill up with $20, and I can drive all week on that tank of gas, although I pretty much just go to work and to the grocery store, and to visit friends across town. Since it's a Ford, and a common model of Ford's, repairs are both cheap and simple.
Story
On an almost weekly basis (sometimes, I just want to stay in), I'll take the back seats out, plop a small mattress in, drive to the beach and bum around all weekend long. You wouldn't expect a Ford Focus to work well for beach bumming, but it's more spacious than it appears to be.
Pros
In both its price, and in gas mileage, my Ford Focus has proven to be the most affordable car I've driven. It's also very reliable, I've had very few problems with it in the past ten years. Parts are cheap, and basic maintenance is simple enough, with this model, that even a weekend warrior, jack of all trades, master of none like yours truly can handle most repairs, although I haven't had to do anything major to it, in all the time I've owned it.
Cons
If you're looking for something powerful and fast, this is not the vehicle for you. Also, these cars are cheaply produced, so I'd imagine they'd crumple like a tin can in a bad accident. I'll admit to strong bias, I've loved my car since I bought it, so I don't have many complaints about it.
