Overall, I would have to say I am rather pleased with my Ford Focus. To start with the good, I would say that the Focus is a nice looking car. It’s nothing fancy, but the look is not displeasing by any means. This car, for The price, has a decent amount of extras, but for those that have always had luxury, it might be disappointing. In general, the car provides a safe and enjoyable ride for a decent price.
Story
The size of this vehicle is nice on the small back roads in my community. It is easier to move aside for another car on a one-way road!
Pros
The first pro of the car would be the affordability, as mentioned before. This is not only I regards to the price of the car, but also gas costs. This vehicle gets pretty good mileage - which was a big selling point for me. With a job change and further commute, I needed a car that would fit my two kids but was also good on gas. While it may not be the ideal car for a family vacation, it is fine for taking my two children to daycare and school. The options for the car, such as Bluetooth and heated seats, make me feel like I did not have to sacrifice as much when I gave up my SUV for this c... (more)
Cons
The biggest con for the Ford Focus would be the jerking at take off. Knowing others that have owned a Focus and from reading online, it appears this is a very common issue and I am still floored there has not been a recall yet. It is annoying and can be embarrassing at times also, with others in the car. Over time, I have learned how to lessen this issue when driving and have been told there is a fix for this as well. I have not had that completed, but feel Ford should take responsibility for this, as a new car should not do this so quickly. This came around 21,000 miles. I have not had an... (more)

I drive a Ford Focus ZTW, the station wagon version. The wagon handles great during a harsh winter, despite being long, and the trunk space is perfect for huge grocery trips. I've even been able to transport furniture most people would pick a truck to move. The Focus handles well, and while it isn't the best when it comes to saving money on gas, it is pretty middle ground and doesn't cost me an arm and a leg to keep running. The seats are comfortable. I like that the trunk has a slider so the contents in the back can be hidden. This was especially useful to transporting my dog because it worked as a cage. I also once put a mattress in the back and took the car out to stargaze. It's comfortable, big enough for a large family, and I only have one major complaint.
Story
I took my wife stargazing at a local dark sky place. We put a mattress in the back and propped open the back hatch so that we could lay down and watch comets shoot overhead. It was romantic and comfortable, valuable family time.
Pros
The Focus handles well in winter even on icy roads despite the length. It's reliable for transporting large objects as well as for people who have a big family. The seats are comfortable for long trips, and the car uses about 30 miles per gallon of gas, which is not bad especially for a 2003. The ZTW can tow about 1000 lbs. if it's necessary, so it's a hardy thing at that.
Cons
The car model does have some electrical issues that can be unpredictable. I've taken it to the mechanic several times in hopes of getting the issue fixed, but the mechanics all say its pretty normal with Ford Focus's. Another downside for some is that the air filter actually is difficult to remove without stripping the bolts, so sometimes the bolts need replaced as well as the filter. If a headlight goes out, it takes about an hour of repairs since so many parts need to be removed to access the light. Still, those are pretty minimal problems for such a 13 year old car.
