2001 Ford Ranger - I Love My Ranger
I love my ranger. I bought it used and it did have some issues, but it has been a reliable truck for all of my traveling. It is only two wheel drive but still handles nicely in snow and on ice. It is black and has an extended cab, which is nice when I have more than one other person traveling with me. It is great for hauling items, and for moving (which I have done frequently over the past few years.)
Story
It can be kind of scary to drive in the snow/ice, but going up the mountain it was a champ on that ice. Easy to correct itself and not crash.
Pros
It drives nicely, warms up fast, looks good, and does what I need it to do. It gets me around town and is reliable for traveling.
Cons
The serpentine belt squeaks, and the alarm system sometimes will go off when I unlock the door. The passenger side window won't roll down unless it's rolled down from the driver's side button. The truck is very light so I had to weigh it down with sand bags.
2011 Ford Ranger - Ford Rangers are awesome
In my life I have owned two ford rangers. One of the ford rangers was the first vehicle I ever owned, it was my grandfathers and I learned to drive in so I may sound prejudiced, but I love ford rangers. My favorite thing about them is that they can endure tough conditions and are made in America, America doesn't make enough good cars but ford has a few. My over all opinion is that ford rangers are great.
Story
One night my friend who's name I wont mention were in my apartment in la drinking some beers, you see had just gone through a rough break up and needed the alcohol to survive. Anyway after the beer was gone jumped in the ford ranger to drive like block to get tacos, anyway, on the way back we got pulled over because Anthony and I were enjoying the beastie boys song "fight for you right to part... (more)
Pros
They last forever, the first one I owned was 12 years old when I received it, and is still running 20 years after its original purchase, it is in the care of a friend right now and very low maintenance.
Fords are tough trucks, it drove through the rain, snow and mud, me being a new driver constantly bonking it into stuff by turning too wide, and occasionally being reckless and taking it down the street to a place you could jump a vehicle if you went the right speed. In survived all that. They say built ford tough for a reason
Cons
The newer models take too much gas, otherwise there are no cons.
