Ford Escape Owner Ratings & Reviews

2014 Ford Escape -
My car drives smoothly and I have had no problems with it. The quality of the leather inside feels top notch. My Bluetooth system is very quick and responsive. The car heats up very fast, and with remote start, cold cars become even less of a problem. The car feels very lightweight and speeds up quickly.
Story
I picked up my puppy in this car. It was our first ever puppy. I was told he does not do well on car rides and gets very car sick. I had to drive an hour back home from where I picked him up. I think keeping the passenger seat slightly heated helped him feel comfortable and kept him from getting sick in my car.
Pros
The heated seats are absolutely incredible. The driver's seat has many adjustable features, includes adjustable lumbar support. There are extra cup holders on the sides of the two front seats. Interior ambient lighting that can change colors to whatever suits you best. It has control buttons for the radio and for Bluetooth calling on the wheel. You can use the touchscreen for radio, climate control, car settings, and GPS.
Cons
I have the silver model and feel that it gets dirty very quickly. I find that when I'm driving on the freeway, even with all windows closed, I can hear the wind outside very loudly as if it's not sealed properly. Being only 5 foot 1 in an SUV, I wish the passenger seat allowed me to adjust it a bit higher so I could see better. It does have Eco fuel, but I feel that it burns through gas very quickly.
2013 Ford Escape - Quiet, Comfy, Stylish
We previously owned a 2012 Ford Focus. We loved that car but needed something bigger so we opted for trading up to a 2013 Ford Escape SE. It maintained a lot of the styling from the Focus which is what we loved about it. The Escape is much more quiet and the extra road height is a major plus. The interior is much of the same as the Focus but all of the little issues we had with it have been fixed. We had a creaky dashboard in the Focus and that was no longer the case in the Escape. The headrests are way more adjustable in the Escape than in the Focus. And the overall comfort of the seats are just better in the Escape.
The performance is much better in the Escape as well. We purchased the model with an EcoBoost engine and it supplies plenty of power. The roof rack and extra cargo space... (more)
Story
We've taken it on a road trip with our newborn who was just over a month old. It managed to fit everything we had to take with us. The only problem was needing to stop every two hours to feed our baby. But the amount of driving we did with it in the time frame we had was a lot. It performed perfectly throughout.
Pros
- The EcoBoost engine gets us great gas mileage for the size of the car and plenty of power for road trips.
- Styling is great. One reason we chose this over the Toyota Rav4. The new Rav4 has what looks like a shelf underneath the back window and its overall look just isn't appealing.
- Very comfortable inside with plenty of leg room in the back.
- Very quiet ride even with cheap tires
Cons
- The biggest negative about this model has been the amount of recalls issued for the engine we have. The 1.6 liter EcoBoost models have seen 5 recalls just for fire problems in the past year. While we haven't needed to take our vehicle in for any so far (besides the most recent one), it is very concerning that this engine has so many problems. The transmission in the 2012 Focus was its main issue and it seems the engine is having recurring problems in this model too.
- More room would be nice in the cargo area particularly for bulky strollers, but I guarantee we would have had a bigger pr... (more)
