This vehicle is a great crossover, and I love it.
After driving this vehicle for 5 months, I have very few complaints. The ride is smooth, and handling is above par. The engine is only a 4 cylinder, so acceleration is a bit stunted. Torque seems to be adequate but could use more. This crossover is great for city driving. It is small enough to negotiate traffic quickly and has a quality braking system with minimal noise. This vehicle has a bit of a hard time traveling uphill on a steep grade, however will make it. The transmission shifts smoothly, without hesitation, and I have not had any trouble with the transmission leaking. The Real Time 4WD is reliable and more useful than expected; I did not expect to be able to take this vehicle up a dirt hill and make it. Not only did we make it, we did it with decent speed! The heater and A/C are high quality, and work exceptionally. There is minimal cab noise, and rattling is almost absent.

A car that has grown up into an SUV.
The 2010 Honda CR-V is the perfect "starter" SUV. It's chassis is raised so you are able to get a better view of the road, yet it's center of gravity is low which improves the stability of the vehicle. Even after 5 years, I'm still getting good gas mileage - averaging 26 mpg with a fully loaded vehicle in both short and long hauls. The largest item I have hauled in this vehicle was an 8' tall (2'x3' dimensions) metal computer server cabinet. I was unable to shut the door all the way, but with the help of bungee cords and the various tie-down places in the SUV, I was able to travel about 10 miles with no problem. I especially love the ways the back seats can fold up. Split into 3 pieces you can accommodate a large cargo and a passenger in the back at the same time. I do miss the folding table that used to be in the cargo area of older CR-V's, but I don't miss the crater in the cargo floor it used to create.
