1995 Ford Taurus - Great car for a construction worker.
The 1995 Ford Taurus 3.8 Wagon is the perfect vehicle for the construction worker with a family. It seats 8: 3 in the front, 3 in the middle, and if needed, pop tailgate and pull the lever to fold up 2 more seats facing out the back window (kids love it). Perfect for the working man or woman that takes his or her tools to work. Pop the tailgate door open and/or remove your tools and close the door.
Story
The 1995 ford Taurus is front-wheel drive. It's easier on the engine to pull a vehicle then push it. Makes it really handy going to Big Bear. My cousin, daughter, and his kids were on our first trip to Big Bear. People stared turning their cars around to back up hill because they were tending to slide downhill instead of uphill. At the time, I didn't understand what was going on. We had no cha... (more)
Pros
Front-wheel drive car so you won't have as many issues in the snow, and that is what makes it great for going to Big Bear. While people are backing up hill, I'm facing forward and enjoying the view. Takes $45 to fill up the tank, lasts me all week--about 300 miles highway, 225 street. Lots of room in the back for groceries, tools, or whatever your need to carry. Pros are all the information you need on any recalls are up on the web. As long as you keep up with the oil changes, you'll be fine as long as you take care of the car. A fairly new engine for the vehicle is a little over $500. So ... (more)
Cons
Recalls. The vehicle's owners manual says to put 5w30. This is wrong. An independent engineer proved a big reason why the head gaskets were deteriorating was because the oil was too thin. Ford never admitted to it until the new Taurus was released. Always use 10W30 and do your oil changes regularly. Spark plug locations are a pain in the butt. Three in the front by the radiator (if you have big hands, you're going to have to remove the radiator fan to reach in with a socket wrench to remove them). Then three in the back. Spark plug 1, 2, & 3 location for a man of my height is a pain to get... (more)
2002 Ford Taurus - Great car!
This car is spacious and not cramped at all, which I prefer. It also has a big trunk. We have loaded it with huge storage bins, and we didn’t have to use a truck to do that. I also like the gray leather seats that I have, and the speakers sound great listening to my music while driving. I have had no engine trouble considering the amount of miles it already has on. I drive 30 minutes to work everyday, and it just works as a great everyday car. It runs smoothly and accelerates fast. I never had a problem with rattling or oil leaks. Never had a problem with transmission either. It runs great even with the topography we have i.e. hills and dips. It hasn’t stalled on me, although there was one time when I had a problem with the fuel line. But I would attribute that to normal wear a... (more)
Story
There is one parking lot in my place of work with very tight room to maneuver. I had to do more than three-point turns to get the car to where I want it. It was funny and frustrating at the same time. My husband calls my car an aircraft carrier, but I love it.
Pros
Spacious. Big trunk. Reliable engine with great performance. Nice leather seats. Accelerates fast.
Cons
Not very fuel efficient. Big turn radius.
