I bought this car used for $1200 with 185,000 miles on it. Despite the area that it was kept being notorious for terrible Winters, it had very little rust, no squeaks or rattles and no suspension issues what so ever. For it being a 1997 I was exceptionally pleased with the fact that there were also no leaks. A year later and 30,000 miles put into it, I have only had to change the brakes, and the distributer cap. It reliably starts up perfect every single time with out fail and runs beautifully. The gas mileage it receives for being as old as it is absolutely phenomenal considering how expensive gas is these days. I can easily drive a full week back and forth to my job 5 miles away plus other miscellaneous trips to various stores and other errands on less than 20$ in gas per week. Very... (more)
Story
I took this car for the first time on a road trip to Cincinnati to see some family and was actually a tad nervous about taking such an old car on the freeway for such a long trip despite it being in terrific condition. Driving through downtown Detroit on the freeway at 6am with the sunroof open and all the windows down was a wonderful experience. The car handled great, it ran smoothly the whol... (more)
Pros
Some of my favorite things about this car are easily the price of maintenance being exceptionally low, repair parts cost exceptionally less than most cars on the road currently, because it's a common car these days lots of mechanics know how to work on them so finding a good shop is easy, the gas mileage is amazing especially for it being nearly 20 years old, the engine is well built and very reliable, the suspension is very solid for something that drives on Michigan's terrible roads all the time, the seats are comfortable and well made which is also a huge plus for someone who enjoys roa... Cons
The cd changer is located in the trunk, which was a common feature in cars in that era from what I understand, however it can be a hassle on a road trip to have to stop to get in the trunk to change cds, as it only holds 6 so often we resort to using a tape adapter and a portable cd player in the car so we can just change out cds that way. Also, the powered windows are a personal distaste of mine simply because the motors can burn out causing the window to no longer operate properly. It does sit fairly low to the ground so you have to be extra careful when driving over larger potholes and ... (more)

My gold Accord started its life with a colleague who drove it gently and babied it. Being a Honda, it was destined to be reliable and it has not let me down. It had 70,000 miles on it when I bought it about six years ago, and it now has 180,000 and is still running as smoothly as the day I bought it. The dealership always comments about how nice a condition the car is in for its age and mileage. I could probably trade it in for a fair price, but I do not want to part with it. The only thing I don't like is the impression an Accord gives that the owner is very conventional.
Story
When I first took this car out for a spin with my two sons (who were in middle school at the time), I asked them if they would like to see me "red line" it. Being Top Gear fans, they knew what that meant. Of course they said "Yes!" We were on some back roads. I put it in second and floored it. My new (to me) Accord responded without a complaint or a whine -- of course, I only pushed it for a f... (more)
Pros
My Accord has a special feature that most Accords do not. In fact, my colleague had to special order it from Japan to get this feature. (Most Accords are made in the United States -- that is another conversation). What is this wonderful thing that my Accord has -- a five-speed manual transmission. Yes, a stick, a clutch, a standard transmission. When people see that I drive a vehicle with this transmission, I no longer have that "conventional" feature that some people associate with an Accord.
Cons
I have beaten the "conventional" judgement of Accord owners into the ground. I do miss some features that I would have ordered if I was buying the car new -- things like a sunroof, nicer interior (leather upholstery, that kind of thing). It is also somewhat disappointing that this car doesn't get as good gas mileage that I expected from a Honda, especially with a manual transmission. Though 33 mpg is not bad, it doesn't compare to my daughter's Prius, which get about 50 mpg. However, the fact that this car has required minimal repairs/maintenance, I feel it has still been an economical choice.

Our salesman was very attentive to our needs and made sure we were well taken care of. The dealership gave us a great trade-in for my old car. They let us take the van overnight to try it out. The dealership was clean and had activities for our children while we bought the car. There was coffee and plenty of snacks for us while we waited.

Germain Honda, formerly Howard Cooper Honda, is where I bought my 2006 Honda Civic years ago when it was new. I got a great resale value on my 2003 Mini Cooper at the time, and have had great (though not inexpensive) routine maintenance on my Civic several times since then. This dealership has had a great reputation for decades and I would recommend it to anyone.
