1998 Nissan Altima - Reliable, economical.

My particular 1998 Nissan Altima GXE, in many ways, is yet another in a long line of reliable, affordable, high mpg vehicles from the Land of the Rising Sun. With a 2.5L engine, this 150hp sedan boasts a 24 city and 31 highway mpg, amazing for its time and still highly competitive even nearly two decades later. Make no mistake, this car is more than capable for the financially conscious who need a car, not for glamor or luxury, but purpose built to get to where you need to be. The car is on the smaller end of econo-sedans, but does well with ample trunk space and one fold down rear seat for more longer types of cargo.
Story
This was my first car, so naturally my fondness for it (and my bias for this review, to be frank), should be clear. In a town and place where many of cars teenagers drove were on the borderline between totaled and completely useless, this car was a dream. I learned to love it and to take care of it; Sundays became a ritual to take it to the car wash and clean out the insides.
Pros
This slightly smaller size provides many subtle benefits sorely missed in vehicles of similar class from the 2010s and the foreseeable future, in that, the car is light, responsive, every window/viewport gives excellent visibility for drivers of any stature. Cars nowadays come standard with proximity sensors and rear facing cameras, but don't be fooled by these bells and whistles; they are additional gadgets that exist to COMPENSATE for poor visibility from increasingly strict safety regulations, nevermind that additional tech will always in turn mean for more things, especially electronic... (more)
Cons
At this point, the only clear negative of the car would have to be its age. Any available 1998 Altima surely cannot be in the best of conditions, especially when considering the car's intended role. Newer cars are surely safer to drive, have better fuel efficiency, are more green if that's a concern of yours, but if value is something that you value, be advised to take into consideration other models and makes within the most popular of driving niches.

My first car ever was a Honda Accord. I loved that vehicle, but unfortunately, ran it into the ground with all of my travels. When I was searching for something new in 2014, I didn't want to go into the American-car field. I do not mean to be disrespectful to anyone who likes American cars. I just do not trust them. I have learned from having a Japanese car and comparing my experiences to my friends, is that I get a much better gas mileage. I do tend to be conscious of my carbon footprint, so having another gas-efficient car, was important. This Japanese brand stands apart to me in its design, fuel efficiency and different types of amenities.
Story
My most recent memory would be going through the car wash with my young puppy. I remember growing up and just loving going through the car wash. In a most recent visit to the car wash, I thought I would take my five-month-old German Shepherd Dog pup. I thought that he would enjoy his time, but sadly I was mistaken. He got a little wild but eventually calmed down as we passed through the washin... (more)
Pros
The positives come in numerous fashions. The first is the design. The Altima has a very sleek look with dual exhaust pipes in the back. The system in the vehicle does tend to notify me when there are internal issues, and the frame is made out of much lighter materials than those seen in many American and German cars.
Cons
While I find it very cool to have a push-to-start vehicle, this does present challenges when trying to start the car during specific seasons. Also, with it being Japanese, it is a bit tougher to find cheaper parts to maintain it.

When I was looking for a vehicle and had it narrowed down to Nissan, the Lansing Nissan dealership offered me a better price compared to another dealership hours away. This was extremely convenient. The entire process from paperwork to being handed the keys took no time at all and everyone there was more than friendly. They made sure I understood everything and answered all my questions. I always service my vehicle there which takes no time at all and all for a great price.

Terry Hanks is a great car sales personality. His team are very knowledgeable. I felt very taken care of while shopping for my car at Sundance, although I did not end up buying from them. They were kind and helpful and not too pushy. I am glad I stopped by. Many people said Sundance was a bad place to buy but I think it is pretty good!
