2012 Honda Civic - It is reliable but lacks power.

It is reliable. I bought it as a second owner from a dealer. It was pre-certified and so far didn't have any major issues though the tires had to be replaced less than two years after purchase. It is easy to park just because it is on a small side. I don't like the digital speedometer. I much prefer analog to find out how fast I am driving. The interior looks and feels cheap. It is fabric and collect lints and dust. The seat must be adjusted manually, which is cumbersome. There is no back-up camera, which is inconvenient and less safe. The driver set's fabric is pretty worn out. The color is grey, and it got scratched while parked in a shopping center. It may be the body paint was not of high quality. It is an OK car but I miss V6's power. This car doesn't accelerate fast enough on the... (more)
Story
This model seems popular in our town. I mistook someone else's car (same color, same model) in a shopping center. I tried to open the door with a remote, and of course, it didn't work. It took me a while to realize my mistake.
Pros
The price was reasonable for a used car. I bought it in 2015 and the model is 2012. I expect the resale value is good as in any Honda without bad accidents. It is easy to park in a crowded parking lot. The gas mileage is good. It is reliable. I don't need to take it to a shop often. Its basic features such as cruise control, am/FM radio, side mirrors, etc. are all acceptable. The driver's seat is comfortable enough. It doesn't cause any back pain. There is enough room for back seats. It doesn't stand out or attract unwanted attention. The grey color for both the exterior, and the interior ... (more)
Cons
It lacks power. I use a low gear to climb up a hill. It doesn't accelerate fast enough so sometimes it is hard to merge on highways. The tire pressure gauge is constantly on. I had it checked out by a dealer. Every time it gets back on the road, the light comes back again. It is frustrating. I can never be sure if it is really a problem or the sensor is malfunctioning. It feels cheap and not sturdy. The seats are made of fabric. The driver's set is already pretty worn out. The body paint and interior plastic parts are not first rate. I'm worried the car would be totaled in a collision. I d... (more)

2005 Honda Civic - Reliable, good value, little car.

I bought my black 2005 Honda Civic Coupe about four years ago after my first car was on its last legs. I chose the Civic, because it was an incredible value (I've already managed to pay off my loan) and was noted to last a long while. While I've had to invest larger sums in it periodically (more on that in a bit), overall, the quality is high. I've had no major issues with electronic components or with the engine. It gets pretty decent mileage once you're on the highway. It's very lightweight and compact but is not uncomfortable, and the trunk space is very large (I've fit ten pieces of luggage in there, which is great when you're going on a big road trip or vacation). I did recently have to get my struts replaced, as they started leaking which was a large investment, but considering I... (more)
Story
My first Christmas living with my partner, we wanted to get a tree, but neither of our cars were good for tying one to the top. Luckily, my little coupe's trunk is so spacious (and the backseat can be adjusted to allow for expansion), we were able to put the tree we bought in the trunk. It was pretty funny pulling a whole tree out of there.
Pros
First off, I could not beat the price. It was between this car and a Toyota Camry for me which was slightly more expensive, and I have no regrets. I purchased this car for around $11,000 with only 55,000 miles on it. As someone who had to balance paying off my student loans with my car payments, this car enabled me to realistically pay them both off in a timely manner without a significant financial burden. The car can also handle long trips and travels like a champ and should last a long time as long as you attend to basic maintenance of it. It gets great gas mileage for its size and is v... (more)
Cons
The biggest drawbacks of this car are the size and how it handles on hills and in snow. Although it's very comfortable for a two door, it is a two door. If you regularly shuttle a lot of people around, this would not be a great pick, as the backseat can be a bit small and is cumbersome to get in and out of, as you need to slide the front seats up to do that and then readjust. Also, going up hills can tax the engine depending on how fast you are going. Your speed drops significantly once you go up one, and I've had instances where I can start to roll back if I ever have to stop on a hill, s... (more)
