1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee - It was a great vehicle when gas was under $2, but not so much as gas prices rose.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee limited was a great vehicle. It was extremely comfortable to ride in, had great acceleration, and handled very well. It had leather interior and came with an Infinity sound system.
Story
Taking my girlfriend out to a fancy steakhouse on New Years eve and having it valeted was pretty cool.
Pros
The acceleration is fantastic for an SUV of that size. It sat up nice and tall above most other vehicles on the road. I really like the look of it, too. It just felt like a luxury item. On long trips it rode extremely smooth and I could easily do 85 miles per hour and felt like I was only doing 60. It has every amenity available, including heated seats which are great for harsh Chicago winters. The towing package was perfect for towing my enclosed trailer, along with my Harley, to Florida a few times. The spaciousness of the interior was also a positive aspect of the vehicle.
Cons
The Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited edition 1998 got terrible gas mileage. In the city it would get around 12 and on the highway it could eke out around 16-17 miles to the gallon depending on the wind. It breaks down frequently as the repair costs are pretty high for that model. Most of the parts are on the higher end to replace even when I do them.

When I bought this car I wasn't looking to buy a car. It was one of the best things I've done in my life. I'm tall so I think this vehicle was made especially for me. It has lots of room and drives well. I like the look of the vehicle and it feels when I'm driving in the snow. It has a sturdy body and looks as good today as it did when I first bought it.
Story
I drove to New York with no problems what so ever.
Pros
Love the 4 wheel drive. Love the vehicle handling in winter. Love the vehicle's style. Love the back storage room. Love how it doesn't feel like a truck even though it's an SUV.
Cons
Gas guzzler. Inside air circulation system could be improved. Back seat should be pushed back 3 - 4 inches. Needs a better rear wiper system. Odometers should be updated to be more secure and accurate. Odometers easily can be adjusted.

The dealers were friendly and not too pushy. They also have a great service team whenever you need repairs.
