I bought my Honda Pilot new from the dealer lot. I have driven it for 215,000 miles plus since purchase and I still own the car. The car is nibble for its size. It’s not a large SUV but it can haul 7 passengers on trips. The front two rows will fit large adults comfortably and two smaller adults can fit in the third row. The entertainment package option came in handy, before the days of the iPad, to help keep the passengers occupied during long trips. I found the GPS easy to use and accurate for most trips. Gas mileage is decent as the engine is equipped with feature that deactivates cylinders when the engine is not under heavy load, like highway driving. Maintenance has been minimal for the first 7 years. The car comes with a maintenance minder that helps you know when the car needs a... (more)
Story
We have gone on many trips with this car. One of the biggest advantages to this car is the fold down seats. My wife and I have taken advantage of the fold down seats to make a makeshift bed and take naps in the car during long trips.
Pros
Comfortable as a daily driver and during long trips. Maintenance has been minimal for the first 7 years of ownership. Interior is large and comfortable for all passengers. Cars acceleration and braking is good for its size.
Cons
Interior lights don’t have a cut-off switch when the car doors are locked and can lead to a light left on by mistake and drain the car battery. Rear could have a little more space for luggage when the car has 7 passengers. Alternator starts to go bad after 7 years and fails suddenly.

2009 Honda Pilot - Satisfied, little maintenance.

I like the Honda Pilot, as it is not a huge SUV like my previous car, which was Chevy Tahoe. It is easy to maneuver and park, unlike my previous car. Seven people can sit comfortably, as long as some of the people are kids under 13. The DVD and navigation system in the touring edition comes in very handy when traveling long distances and in unfamiliar territory.
Story
We drove this car to Canada many times, and it was very easy to keep my daughter and her cousins comfortable and entertained.
Pros
My favorite features are that it gets good gas mileage for a full-size SUV. It also handles well in the weather, especially the snow, which is important here in the Midwest. SUV also is very easy to drive and steer, as it is not too huge to lose control, unlike other larger SUVs. The parking sensors are also a feature I had not had before, and now I do not know how I could live without it. I rely on them so much now that it makes parking so much easier and faster.
Cons
One of the things I do not like about the Pilot is that it seems a bit stiff and bulky when driving. This is typical of many Japanese made cars. My Chevy Tahoe was much more quieter and smoother to drive due to the incredible suspension. The rear camera is not very clear or helpful, and I rarely use it. The navigation center gets blocked by the sun many times, and you need to put your hand over it to see sometimes. They need to put in a shield like many cars do now.

The salesman was down to earth and understood that most people do their shopping on the web now. He ran our credit before we got there ensuring we would qualify for the special financing. The entire transaction was completed in under 30 minutes from when we walked through the door. They had the car 2 days later and we picked it up and signed all paperwork in about 20 minutes.

For one, this dealer didn't react to two women walking in to buy a car like we were insignificant. (You'd be surprised how many dealers completely ignored us when we were looking to buy.) Second, they'd gone above and beyond regular repairs/maintenance for the used car we bought and it really looked like they genuinely cared about the car.
