This car was bought under pressure due to the loss of the previous car. I had never owned a Jeep before but was aware they get a somewhat bad rap sometimes due to their affiliation to Chrysler. This car has proved that wrong and made a Jeep lover out of me. I have owned this car for 8 years and only had one major issue with it. Other than regular maintenance and some TLC this car has taken everything I have thrown at it and chewed it up and spit it out. It takes the highway no problem with 17-18 mpg and can transition to the trail without any issue (and that is with the i6 motor and RWD).
Story
In the recent Houston floods we ended up getting blocked from going home due to rising waters. My wife drives a smaller car so we parked hers on some high ground and moved her and my son and our gear over to the Jeep. With the Jeep being significantly higher we were able to get through the high water (my son thought it was a blast watching the water splash over everything) and get to a family ... (more)
Pros
The maintenance is easy and the motor is solid. The ride on the trail is very easy and doesn't seem like I am rattling all of the bolts loose on the car. It's a good, solid response and I never feel like I am out of control.
Cons
The ride quality on the highway is a bit rough. I don't mind but my wife does. This is likely fixable with a different set of shocks but is honestly the only thing I can think I dislike about the car.

I have had this Jeep since 2006, when it was purchased with around 50,000 miles on it. Nothing catastrophic has ever gone wrong with the vehicle and now it has 193,000 miles on it and I drive it roughly 50 miles a day to get to work and back home. The only thing I have ever had to replace are a few sensors, tires and all the other basic up keep with any vehicle you would typically expect. I love the overland trim because all of the engine internals are hardened from the factory for longevity along with an upgraded transfer case and axles. The award winning Quadra Drive all wheel drive system has never had me stuck in the winter or in the rain. Even with all season street tires this truck would get out of just about anything. Other than the few items that you would expect to go out in a... (more)
Story
Going off road and almost getting stuck numerous times, I also got muddy water inside the jeep at one point and still have the muddy water lines running through one of the speaker grills that I cannot reach to get out, this was almost 10 years ago!
Pros
There are a lot of pros to consider when talking about this vehicle. One of my favorite things is the all wheel drive system for these is amazing; not once have I had any issues off road with this vehicle and I have put it through some rough terrain over the course of its life. Another great thing about this vehicle is the simplicity of the drivetrain. I am a very good mechanic but most people would be able to service this vehicle quiet easily with a simple Haynes manual. In addition to the previously mentioned pros, I think the stylish interior and sunroof definitely go a long way, the wo... (more)
Cons
There aren't many bad things that I can say about this vehicle. Unfortunately, as of late, I have had to replace some smaller items such as a window regulator, alternator, and a small sensor here or there. My biggest gripe with this vehicle however is the fuel mileage. I average 16 MPG overall and I do mainly highway driving. If I have to do any amount of city driving I could literally watch the fuel gauge go down as I cruise around, part of this could be due to a faulty idle air control valve that has never been replaced and is notorious for failing on this particular model of Jeep. Besid... (more)
