2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee - Transmission Issues but Overall Good Vehicle
I have wanted a Grand Cherokee for years and finally was able to buy one. I was ecstatic with the purchase at first, but because it is used, there were some hidden issues. Overall, Jeep is reliable and this is the 2nd Jeep product I've owned. They handle well, the interior is spacious and comfortable and overall gas mileage isn't bad.
Story
I've driven this vehicle, even being 2WD, on the beaches in Top Sail, NC. It is fun to play around on the drive on beach and be able to back right up to the water to wade or even fish. Jeep is definitely dependable for the adventurous type.
Pros
Positives for this vehicle include decent gas mileage, plenty of space, and ease of driving. It handles really well and is great at powering through the ups and downs of mountain driving while still being a reliable day to day driver through the city and highways locally. The driver dashboard that gives you updated MPG and miles to empty as well as many other ways to change settings on the car is really user friendly.
Cons
My particular vehicle has had issues from the time I drove it off the lot. It died within a week of purchase due to corroded battery cables that were obscured by covers on the posts. The transmission is a long term issue for Jeep and this one is no exception. At 130K miles, the transmission already needs to be replaced as it skips gears and has a hard time shifting.
2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee - Jeep builds great cars
This is not the first Jeep vehicle I have purchased. It was aesthetic to the eye, and the interior has held up nicely through three small children. We were able to keep it running smoothly with little problems with consistent upkeep. Obviously, in its older years, those upkeep items are a little larger than just an oil change, but any repairs were to be expected considering the age and mileage of the vehicle. Overall, Jeep makes a great product that withstands the test of time. We have not had any real surprises with this vehicle.
Story
We brought our first child home from the hospital in this car. I sat in the back with the baby as a first time mommy, nervous wreck move.
Pros
I like the look of the Jeep. It doesn't look like a "conversion vehicle," which everyone seems to be going for these days. It looks like a true SUV. We've put a ton of miles on this car, and it has held up nicely. Yes, we've had to replace the brakes and the radiator and a few other things, but this car is more than ten years old. Those things are to be expected.
Cons
Jeep is not as prevalent as some of your other brands (although, they are becoming more popular), so parts can sometimes be a bear to obtain. We had to order a few things online through Jeep website but other than that, the car has been a blessing for us.
