We purchased a brand new 2015 Jeep Patriot 4x4 and couldn't be more pleased. The vehicle is both economical on gas and at the same time provides four-wheel drive capabilities during in climate weather and reasonable off road use.
Story
My son loves to ride up and down farm roads with the sun roof open. He thinks it's fun to stick his head out and watch as we drive past the animals. He especially liked it when he could stick his head out at the drive through Christmas light show.
Pros
The four-wheel drive has been useful when it snows in Virginia. We do not get large amount of snow all winter, but we do get a few good snows per season. Four-wheel drive has given us the ability to get out and about while others are still stuck at home. The engine is very reliable and oil and filter changes are easy to do. The interior is high quality and is holding up very well. The sound system is pretty good and the built in hard drive means we don't have to have a means to store a billion CDs. The system also plays DVDs!
Cons
New cars should come with 80k mile tires from the factory. The doors need regreasing sooner than most cars. The exhaust has a slight rattle from time to time, it can easily be fixed but the sound does get irritating. Depending on four-wheel drive and off road use, it could use a bigger engine.

2013 Jeep Patriot - Love/hate relationship.

This was my dream car. I love the look, color, interior detail, and features it provides. However, it is very loud and rugged while driving, and CVT transmission causes overheating issues when going over 65 mph on a hot day, according to the owner's manual. It has decent gas mileage for an SUV and has plenty of space for a soccer mom transporting children.
Story
Every summer I take this SUV camping on the beach with my kids. We are able to easily drive onto the sand and use the trunk as a seating area. We enjoy the off-road aspect of this car and appreciate how easily it handles the terrain.
Pros
My favorite things are the stereo screen, the ability to see what doors are open and what the tire pressure is in all tires, the sleek outer design and the simple interior.
Cons
My least favorite things are the transmission overheating issues that mechanics have reassured me are normal in this type of transmission, the loudness when driving, and the ruggedness while on normal roads.

It's an honest dealership that a lot of service members purchase their cars from. So, since several people recommend it to me, I decide to purchase from there myself.
