I bought my Kia Optima new in 2002, and the problems have never ended. Immediately after purchase the brakes needed to replaced. They have squeaked ever since, even after many brake jobs. The rocker arm in the drivers side power window broke four times. I finally stopped getting it fixed and that window, along with the passenger side front and rear window, which also broke, are now permanently shut. The fuses in the dashboard keep blowing out. The power antenna no longer works. The cable that connects from my gas tank door to a button on the drivers side door, which when depressed, will make the gas tank door pop open, broke within six months of my buying the car. It has been replaced three times. Now, when it gets hot out, the gas tank door won't open. I have to open my trunk and pull... (more)
Story
As soon as I drove the car off the lot, the brakes had a rumbling, vibrating feel to them. I went back to the dealer and they said the brake pads were defective and replaced them, causing the brakes to squeak. They still squeak 15 years later.
Pros
It looked nice, very stylish and expensive looking. It has a large trunk. The stereo system had good sound quality.
Cons
Fuel filter kept disintegrating, fuel tank cable that opens fuel tank door kept breaking, fuel tank door does not open via button inside car door when it is hot out (have to go through trunk and use emergency release), and brakes squeak no matter what kind are put on.

One of the best things about the Kia Optima SX turbo is that it looks like it belongs along side highly sought after German-engineered automobiles. From the ride to the easy maintenance, this car is a dream that is affordable for most budgets. The redesigned body and interior coupled with added performance, makes this car an all-around winner.
Story
Rolling race on the 15 freeway south from Las Vegas to Los Angeles, just outside of Vegas. Cadillac VTS and I were doing 140 mph to the CA/NV border. No other cars around and we gave each other thumbs up afterwards for a shared adrenaline rush.
Pros
Horsepower, 274 to be exact. One of the major benefits of this car is that it can keep up or pass the competition. Eco mode and low gas consumption. If you aren't on the gas pedal, there is Eco mode which conserves gas allowing up to 40+ miles per gallon. Air cooled seats. Not too many high-end vehicles have this feature. Definitely a plus in the summer with leather seating. Premium sound system. No need to upgrade. Multiple-steering mode settings. Although you need to visit the dealer to unlock the different modes for this year, there is a sport mode that turns the car into a fun daily dr... (more)
Cons
One major negative item about the Kia Optima SX turbo is the recall issues. There are several but are all covered and service for the recall is free. Tires. Kia could have put better tires on a $30k car. Break system. Needs bigger rotors and better quality brake pads. Turbo components could be a little better. Does not have a catch can for oil from turbo.
