I chose to test drive the Kia Soul because of the low price point and high reviews. Despite the look of the car, I found I loved the interior and the ride. The interior was much, much roomier than I expected, and the houndstooth patterned cloth adds an element of fun. In the three years I’ve had this car, I’ve had to perform nothing more than preventative maintenance. It was even rated one of the best small cars to own and cheapest to maintain. Despite the fact that some friends make fun of me for driving a hamster car, and yes, it’s a bit ugly, there are some really cool, non-essential features in the car. The lights around the speakers that light up to the beat or just change colors gradually depending on which you’d prefer. The organizer in the trunk is a life-saver. I love the fact that I have an audio jack and a USB port. I definitely would recommend and have recommended this car to anyone who will listen.

I bought this car on impulse after I continually was putting money into my previous three-year-old car. After I was told I needed to spend another $1200 on the old-new car, I went to test drive this car because there was an affordable used model at the dealership. I thought the car was ugly, but the reviews seemed to be good and it was affordable and I REALLY needed a new car. (I did end up getting a new model for the same price as the used, so my car was new.) I got into the car and I immediately LOVED it. It’s just a bit higher than sedans, and it felt nice to be those six inches higher on the road. Since I’m pretty short, being higher up is always nice. The inside is really roomy and even my father, who is 6’3”, fits comfortably. There are neat features, like having both the USB port and auxiliary jack, and the lights that change with the music. I chose the houndstooth-patterned cloth for the interior seats which is something no other car has. The ride is considerably smoother than you’d expect for a car that is higher off the road, however, there is some road noise. I can deal with that, though, because other than oil changes, I’ve never had to put in any money into the car.
