The Mazda3 is an economy car, but punches well beyond it's weight. The car is a reliable sedan with great fuel economy and best in class comfort. The interior design is not one reminiscent of most economy cars, and looks much more modern and sleek than competitors at the price point. The interior features also provide a pleasant surprise for those expecting cheap standards. As is to be expected at this price point though, the Mazda3 lacks performance characteristics and for those who are looking for a speedy car, they won't find it in the Mazda3.
Story
I had to go to the store during an ice day, and while the entire town had nearly shut down I took to the road worried that I would be unable to drive safely. Surprisingly the Mazda3 handled itself well on the ice and I was able to make it to the store and back with no problem, and even took a longer route to enjoy the nice winter scenery.
Pros
The fuel economy on the Mazda3 is fantastic, offering up to 30 mpg in the city, and up to 40 mpg on the highway. The car is also reliable, and beyond regular maintenance like oil change and tire rotation you won't find the car to have problems. It is also at a great price point for those who want to be economical but still have a sleek looking car. The front grill provides a somewhat aggressive look that counters the other subdued looking economy cars at the Mazda3's price point. The sound system in the car is also surprisingly good and is deserving of some praise, as it has a fairly equal... (more)
Cons
For all the thing's that make the Mazda3 great there is one thing that can't be denied. The Mazda3 is no performance vehicle, and it's slow acceleration is clear proof of that. The cars great gas mileage and cheap price point are clear tradeoffs that one will have to take in exchange for performance features. I find at times merging onto highways and other similar situations requires some pretty intense acceleration to get the Mazda3 to reach the speed needed.

I was scared to have to retire my Protege after 13+ years of solid service, but it was time, and I went to Mazda since it worked well for me previously. All of the new technology kind of threw me at first. I didn't think I'd like the backup camera, and now I don't know how I lived without it. Of all the safety features it has, this has to be in the top 5. It's quiet, and it corners well. I feel secure at all times, while still being excited to drive it. The interior is really sporty, too, and is great for long car trips.
Story
I haven't gotten to use it as much as I'd like to since it's only 3 months old, but it's a popular car and my color of blue is also very popular. It's embarrassing to admit, but I accidentally tried to get into another identical car in a parking lot recently that was parked nearby. So it's great to know that my keys won't unlock another exact model remotely. :)
Pros
Backup camera Comfortable steering wheel Power windows and locks Power trunk button on keys Spacious backseat Comfortable front and passenger seats
Cons
I don't really like the push-start ignition, but I will get used to it. It's just difficult to train yourself to take your keys with you for the first few weeks. I don't like where the volume control is for the radio and how the presets are buried in another menu. I miss my different preset buttons on my protege. There's plenty of trunk space, but it has a really shallow threshold to angle things in. I tried bringing a new printer home, and it wouldn't fit at all in the trunk or the backseat. I had to strip it out of its box and styrofoam in Staples' parking lot. My protege would have been... (more)

They were very efficient and friendly. They didn't act like con artists, they were completely upfront about all payments and whatnot. They were also very patient with me as it took me a long time to choose a car, and I had a lot of questions. It was a pleasant experience, and I left very happy with my new car.
