2010 Mazda Mazda3 - Good
This is the second Mazda I've owned, my first being a Protege that had 190,000+ miles on it when it finally needed to be replaced. I purchased my current Mazda 3 with 32,000 miles on it and overall it's been a good car. It handles and performs well and is very fun to drive! I like that it has cruise control, something I appreciate on long drives. I also like that it's Bluetooth enabled so I can enjoy music through my phone.
There have been some recurring mechanical issues throughout its life which have frustrated me.
Story
I really enjoy kayaking and I've had the pleasure of taking my kayaks with me on summer vacation thanks to my car.
Pros
I love how well it handles. I tend to do a lot of driving, including long distances on highways, and it handles equally well on highways as it does on local roads. My favorite features include its Bluetooth so I can enjoy music from my phone and use navigational apps. I love the moon roof.
Cons
I've had some recurring issues with this car. I purchased it from a dealer at 32,000 miles. Shortly after I bought it two things happened - the traction control and ABS brake warning lights went on on the dashboard. I purchased the car in 2014 and I've had three different dealers look at the issue and claim they have fixed it. These warning lights still go on at times.
Another issue that also started shortly after I purchased it was a clicking noise would sound inside the dashboard for about 30 seconds when I turned on the air in the car. The sound stops if I only recirculate inside air, ... (more)
2011 Mazda Mazda3 - Mazda 3 is a great car for all lifestyles.
The Mazda 3 is an excellent vehicle whether you're going to be a first time car owner or you're looking for a reliable vehicle to replace your current car. I've had my Mazda 3 since 2011, and I have not once experienced any motor related issues. It's been a pleasure to have one for the last six years, and I don't plan on getting a new car any time soon.
Story
I'm in NY, and I have a Barstool Sports bumper sticker on my back window that says "Viva La Stool." I'll notice people behind me are often taking a picture of it while we are stopped at traffic lights.
Pros
The car itself drives great and is very responsive. You never feel like the car is giving you a sluggish reaction. You're in full control behind the wheel. The inside of the car can get somewhat loud while driving. It's not an entirely quiet experience, so keep that in mind. My 2011 version and all subsequent versions include an auxiliary input which makes it very simple to hook up your cell phone or, in my case, an iPod (I know I am dating myself, which feels odd to say when talking about an iPod) to listen to your favorite songs. There is a surprising amount of trunk space in the vehicle... (more)
Cons
I've had to change the brakes once over the course of 50,000 miles, but that was regular wear and tear. My one gripe with the car is it tends to be rough on tires. I've had to replace my tires twice now in 50,000 miles, which seems a bit high to me. However, keep in mind my 2011 model came with "sport" tires which are thinner than usual. I'm not sure how a Mazda 3 with regular tires would perform.

2015 Mazda CX-5 - Northtown Mazda Amherst
No pressure salesman (Alex) had helped us purchase our first new car here and had explained how the payments were actually cheaper to buy new with no interest than to buy one year used with financing. We were lucky to purchase during a promotion with zero percent financing and this made more sense to our wallets. When we needed a second car, this was our first and only stop to get help from the excellent staff (Alex again!) and he helped get me into a new CX-5 at a price point that worked for us. Also, their new shop (oil changes, repairs, inspections, etc.) is very clean and they do a great job for any work I need done - at a reasonable price, and they even washed my car!
2016 Mazda CX-5 - Mazda Huntington Station
They had the car I wanted, for the price I was willing to pay.
The manager was a bit of an ass though. He treated me like I was a child (I was 22 at the time of purchase) who didn't understand basic Financial Literacy (reading loans, etc.). I work in Finance and Accounting, and I ran an Analytics department as well as headed a number of acquisitions of companies, so this type of stuff is very simple for me, but this guy was a bit condescending to me, so I simply dealt with Jessica, a sales rep there who actually respected my knowledge regardless of my age and treated the sale with care to the very end.
