Subaru Impreza Owner Ratings & Reviews

2009 Subaru Impreza - Great Northeastern Winter Car
The 2009 Subaru Impreza is a great car for Northeastern winters. I live in Rochester New York, and in all the four years of owning it, my car has only gotten stuck in a snow drift once. While every other car is standing there with wheels spinning, mine just glides on by, while maintaining control.
Besides it's winter capabilities, the Impreza also boasts a comfortable interior and great longevity.
Story
I took my car on a wine tour. At certain parts, we ended up going up and down curves and hills on rutted roads. My car handled this rough terrain beautifully, while we saw nature all around us.
Pros
Handling is exceptional. The all wheel drive really allows it to grip the road at all speeds in all conditions, even with only all-season tires.
The inside is comfortable and has many features, without being ostentatious. The lines of the console are clean, without distractions. The seats are relatively comfortable for a car of its class, and quite roomy for driver's and passengers.
Additionally, it holds its value quite well.
Cons
One immediate thing I noticed about my car was it's lack of some newer electronic features. Most specifically, it lacked a usb port, which I have seen on most other cars of it's class and year. Aside from that, the biggest con is that as an import, maintenance tends to be more expensive than a similar domestic car.
2006 Subaru Impreza - I love Subaru.
I absolutely love this car. It has been super reliable since I got it 3.5 years ago. Because of this car I have trouble picturing myself in any other brand of car. MY only regret is that its an automatic. I live in the north east and all wheel drive has saved me more times than I can count. Its also fun to drive in the winter it stays planted unless I want it to slide.
Story
When we got 3 feet of snow I was able to get around while SUVs were stuck without having to dig myself out of my parking lot. It was super fun driving around in the snow knowing that I had full control the car I knew that if I blipped the throttle during a turn I could kick the back out and still have 100% control.
Pros
All wheel drive is essential to living in the NE US. Power everything locks window etc. Remote start is great for cold days. Ride is smooth. Lots of low end torque. Heats up quickly in the winter.
Cons
Not the most fuel efficient. Changing spark plugs is a pain. Directional Tires can only be rotated front to back. Thin paint that is easily scratched. Very prone to rust. Cant fold down the back seats.
