There was a situation this past spring with a very unusual weather pattern. This resulted in rapid transitions between rain, snow, sleet and small hail. It was interesting to watch rapid change within a short half hour time frame.

The route to North Lake Tahoe. I enjoy how the landscape changes with elevation. The tight switchbacks are a distinct change from straight and flat roads on the valley floor. The portion of road just ascending out of the valley in the Galena area is open and quite relaxing.

My favorite driving memory in this area is driving back from school during the day time and having the freeway be almost completely empty. I think that we do not really get any traffic unless there is some construction.

This is my favorite place to drive because it is the less travelled freeway. Not that many people use it so it is easy to get on and off. There is also no construction on the parts I drive.
