2006 Scion tC - My life with Scion TC
I would definitely recommend the Scion TC to anyone looking to own a new car and also learn the basics of car maintenance. Unfortunately, Toyota discontinued the Scion department, so there will be no newer models of Scion coming out, but the older models perform great. This is my first car, and I have not been disappointed. I have learned a lot of DIY car maintenance with the Scion and even learned to drive in this car. I paid about $20,000 base price for this model and, for how it has performed over the last ten years, it was worth every cent.
Story
While driving in California along the Malibu beach, the weather was perfect so I rolled down the sun roof. My friends and I had a great time driving along the coast, enjoying the weather, and spending time on the beach.
Pros
My car is ten years old and approximately at 105,000 miles, and it still runs great. With regular tune ups (oil changes and fuel injector cleaning), it still get about 28 miles per gallon, which I consider to be a great fuel economy car. The engine runs fine, and I have never experienced any rough idles or misfires.
Cons
My model of Scion TC has a spoiler on top of the hatchback. This can cause lifting the hatchback to be heavy and extra attention needs to be made when the support lifts get older because it can be dangerous if the hatchback falls on top of you. Another con is the recommended wiper blade lengths for the car leaves some areas of the window dirty.
2007 Scion tC - I love my tC!
I absolutely love my tC, it was one of the best purchases I have ever made. I have a 2007 manual model, and it is still so fun to zip around town in. It gets awesome gas mileage on long road trips -- 28 mpg -- and probably around 20 mpg around town. I've had absolutely no mechanical problems whatsoever and I love that it's so reliable. My only real dislike is that it's VERY low clearance - as in I scrape the bottom of the bumper often when I pull into parking spaces with a curb. Also, it's not a car for tall people - my 6' boyfriend pretty much touches the ceiling with his head if he sits in the back. Cargo space is decent, it fits a bicycle in the back if the seats are put down.
Story
Back in 2007, I was driving around one day and I saw a car in front of me that I absolutely LOVED. But it was a new car and it had a paper license plate that had flipped up and covered the tC insignia. For a week I searched and searched to figure out what car it was, to no avail (this was before tC was popular!). Soon thereafter, the car I had been driving got a hole in the engine and I fou... (more)
Pros
I love that this car has a Toyota engine. Nothing has gone wrong with it so far! In 6 years (with regular oil-changes and maintenance), the only things I've had to do was replace the battery twice and do a power steering flush. I did take it in once because the brakes were making a strange noise but it was just dirt on the discs, a quick fix.
Cons
One of the biggest cons is that some parts of the car began to fall apart a few years after I purchased it. The "grill" screen on the front below the headlights fell out, and the back latch for the hatch completely broke off, and is currently being held on by duct tape! Apparently it is a known problem with the tC model. Also the vehicle did not come with filters in the air ducts, which I had no idea about until my mechanic informed me about it.

2014 Scion xD - Precision Toyota Of Tucson
This dealership was great because they were genuinely interested in getting me the best price possible out of the whole area. The other dealerships tried to get more money out of me.
2011 Scion xD - Avondale Toyota
I bought my first car here; I really enjoy this dealership because it isn't like most dealerships that are full with nothing but salesmen waiting for you around every corner of the building.
