2015 Subaru Forester - First time I've owned a Subaru. I would buy again!

I have always preferred small SUVs, though this is the first one I've owned in several years. The size is perfect. Because I'm short, it gives me a much better view of the road than a sedan, without feeling like I'm driving an enormous vehicle. I was concerned how well it would accelerate, thinking I may have to really floor it to pass someone on the freeway, but it accelerates quickly and smoothly. I also wondered how well it would take tight curves. It does feel a little top-heavy, but less than I expected. The gas mileage also surprised me. I thought it would burn through a lot of gas, but I don't find much difference from my previous cars.
Story
I have not camped since I was a kid. My boyfriend and I decided to take a "car-camping" trip in the Great Smokies. We had ample room to sleep with the seats flat, and looking up at the stars out of the (closed) sunroof was great!
Pros
I have always been ambivalent about having a sunroof, but this one is very large, almost half of the roof is glass. It lets in a lot of sun, and it came as a surprise to me how much I would love that. I don't care to have it open when driving, however, just personal preference. I also love the heated seats. I live in an area with long, cold winters, and this is the first time I've had this feature. It will be a must in all cars for me from now on. Another feature I was surprised at how much I liked was a little digital display on the rear-view mirror showing the direction you're driving (e... (more)
Cons
I have very few negative things to say about my Forrester. The main complaint I have is the layout of the center console/drink-holders. The shifter is in front of the cup-holders. Since I am short, my seat is very forward. This means that I have to reach almost behind myself to pick up anything in my drink holder. The storage area in the center console is unlike any other vehicle I've owned. Rather than a horizontal shape, it is more of a vertical rectangle shape. This is awkward, as it is tall and narrow, instead of short and narrow. Digging out gloves and anything else is cumbersome. The... (more)

My husband and I bough our Subaru Forester in July 2015 after our twins were born. As new parents we were hauling around a LOT of gear but didn't want to sacrifice travel because we couldn't accommodate things like swings and pack n' plays.
Story
We love to be outdoors and we love showing our children the joy of nature. We will often drive for fun and stop often to look at fun things, a historical site, a snapping turtle, or an eagle nesting in the trees. On one trip we saw a beautiful flock of turkeys and pulled over to look closer. There was no shoulder and with many cars we would have had a problem getting through the tall grass and... (more)
Pros
The Forester is absolutely amazing for long trips with a lot of stuff. The trunk is truly spacious, there is ample leg room in the back seat, and the roof rack is very sturdy. The performance is also very solid. The Forester handles highway speeds up to 85 with nary a rattle or shudder. Around town the car is quiet and we have had no issues of any kind. It gets great gas mileage, both on and off the highway. The car also looks attractive. The lines are very clean and the sporty appearance makes driving fun.
Cons
The front seats do not have as much leg room - anyone over 6' will probably be uncomfortable on long rides. The steering wheel sits at kind of an odd angle, making our arms uncomfortable on long drives. The center console is very hard to clean.

The sales agent was very responsive. The dealership was some distance away, so I liked that most of our negotiations took place via email. He was not your typical pushy sales agent. This dealership actually provided me with the best offer, but they did not have the color I liked.

I felt like they worked with me on the price. They even helped me get financing at a decent rate so that the monthly payments were manageable. I liked that the salesman was patient and went above and beyond to spend time with me and answer all of my questions. This was my first NEW car purchase so I felt hesitant to invest so much cash at one time, but the whole process was smooth and not rushed like in some other car dealerships (they can't wait to close the deal, it seems). I liked that the whole process felt like it was no pressure. That put me at ease.
