Toyota Camry Owner Ratings & Reviews

2003 Toyota Camry - The car that never quits
I've loved this vehicle since the moment we picked it up. It looks average and unassuming. But now 200,000 miles later, this car is still going strong with no serious mechanical failures to speak of. Drives smooth. Very quiet ride as long as you give it some good wheels. Good sound system for its age. Even has a powerful air conditioner, spacious bucket seats, a cavernous trunk, and a super reliable engine. Most people donÕt know the car was actually based on the Lexus of the day, which already had a very proven track record.
Story
Drove this car all the way down the California Coast with friends and even car-camped out if it. Worked like champ the whole time.
Pros
Some of the best things about this car are the extra air bags it comes with for safety. Side curtain airbags were just coming out when this model got them. Also, a stereo/cassette/CD combo with aux is handy for those who like to plug a more modern music device into their car. Oh, and did I mention the car was a smooth ride? Suspension holding up well even after a lot of driving.
Cons
Only main con was the mud shield below the engine compartment. Specifically, it has these cheaply-made plastic OEM clips that barely keep it in place. So if you back up over one little parking spot curb, off they pop. Recommend having a mechanic fashion something better to hold that shield in place under the engine.
1989 Toyota Camry - A reliable old friend
This old Camry has been lovingly cared for by the previous owner, and older Asian lady, and by myself, a home mechanic who has been able to take care of all maintenance and minor repair needs. It's like a well worn in pair of jeans, in that you know what it's all about, with no surprises.
Pros
This is an extremely reliable car with seating for five and a large trunk. Given that it is so old, it retains some classic features that you rarely see anymore, such as an analog clock in the dashboard and a cassette deck radio system. It's a great car to go cruising in or to take a nice weekend trip with equipment or supplies. Since it is an older car, it is extremely easy to work on if you have basic automotive skills.
Cons
It is an older car with basic cruise control that may or may not work. The air conditioning is also likewise out of condition, and the stock radio only receives AM signals, with no aftermarket modifications or upgrades. The upholstery is a bit torn and faded after over 20 years of loving service, and the ceiling liner is a bit scratched in places. The paint job is peeling on the top surfaces of the car. The trunk lock fell out years ago, remaining in the glove compartment until someone repairs it.
