With a Toyota Corolla you cannot go wrong. It is great with gas mileage, great for work commutes and taking kids to and from their activities. It will keep gas spending to a minimum. I only have two kids, but I can see this not being a great car for people with three children that are all in car seats. I do appreciate the trunk space of the Corolla. Toyota cars do have great trunk space, and we had a double stroller for the longest time that would fit in the trunk with no issue, and it was a bulky stroller. This car is not flashy so not a lot of bells and whistles on the inside, but if you drive many miles during the week, it would be an excellent car choice. I almost have 200K miles on the Corolla, and it is still running very well with nothing more than maintenance issues over... (more)
Story
It has been fun for weekend road trips up to the mountains. That is our favorite memory in the car. Going to the mountains to get to the lake.
Pros
Great gas mileage, compact car good for parking, and runs well even when mileage is getting high.
Cons
Limited space if you want more than two kids. Only really holds two car seats well.

Purchased this car used and haven't regretted it for a second. While it's not the most visually sleek car on the market, it has respectable gas mileage and a straightforward interior design. I've consistently driven this car for upwards of three years and it has yet to require any major maintenance.
Story
My college campus suffered minor flooding after a big storm, and I remember purposefully riding along campus to splash through some of the puddles. One of them was larger than I anticipated, and I ended up with water going all up my windshield. It was scary, but my car handled it like a champ.
Pros
Ultimately the biggest pro of this car is the price. Since it's older and has a much more simplistic design, it ideally won't cost you more than ten thousand on a bad day. Aforementioned simplistic design was a big plus for me. I know exactly what'll happen when I press a specific button. The space in the back seats is the perfect size for me to nap in when I get to campus early, and the trunk space is more than big enough for all of my hiking gear.
Cons
The A-pillars on this model offer pretty large blind spots when you're trying to move horizontally or turn. One of the doors fails to lock automatically and must be done manually. The radio in the car is very barebones and archaic, to the point where I use Spotify on my phone whenever I drive and never the radio itself. Newer Corollas have things like back-up cameras and heated seats, but this model definitely does not.
