I appreciated the total seating and stowage capacity of the car. Engine performance was good, always accelerated quickly. Even at 200k miles I never had any issues beyond normal wear and tear. Brakes were very responsive though the car lacked ABS. The car wasn't fancy by any means, there's nothing luxury or performance about it.
Story
I went on a date where we were "local tourists." We spent the day driving to many of the interesting places around the DFW metroplex. I had a great time seeing all the sights that I had almost forgotten were in my own backyard. The car itself held up great with all the city driving, and the responsive handling and good turning radius was a great help in navigating dense urban areas that I had ... (more)
Pros
Five seatbelts and rear seats that fold down made the car pretty versatile. I was pleasantly surprised with how much I was able to do with the car. The fuel economy was good, and the fuel tank was a decent size so I didn't have to fill up too often. The car ran well for 200k miles and didn't have any problems beyond normal wear and tear which contributed to the affordability.
Cons
Absolutely no bells or whistles. No power locks, so I would have to manually unlock each door I wanted to open. Not having power windows bothered me more and more the longer I had the car. The lack of ABS combined with the vehicle's relatively light weight lead to a few close calls and made driving on wet or icy roads particularly stressful. Lack of cruise control made long drives uncomfortable.

The 2002 Toyota Corolla is a great little car. It gets over 30 mpg on the highway. It has a very low aerodynamic profile, which attributes to its gas mileage. It rides well and has a good suspension. Despite its size, it has ample trunk space. The steering is nice, and the car does not wobble or shake at high speeds. It seats four people comfortably and five in a pinch. The driver's seat is comfortable. I can fit in it easily, and I am 6'5" tall. The interior design is very nice and, after 16 years, I still have the original upholstery intact. The power windows, door locks, radio, trunk opener, and gas cap opener work just fine, and I have had no problems with them at all. The headlights provide good visibility while driving. The car is also very reliable. It starts easily and I have h... (more)
Story
This car is so low to the ground we once spent twenty minutes looking for it in the parking lot. A Hummer parked in front of it and completely obscured it!
Pros
My favorite features are the hyper-efficient air conditioning system, the lever activated trunk and fuel door release. The dashboard is laid out well and easily visible day or not. The radio works well, and you can save up to 16 FM and 16 AM stations.
Cons
One small problem is that because of its very low profile, it is hard finding the car in a parking lot. It is easily obscured by larger cars. Most of the car is metal and easily dented and rusted. I have several dings that I need to repair and repaint.
