I love my Corolla. It is very smooth on road and picks up speed very fast. The interior is designed very well with smooth contours and top class material. In the more than 13 years I've owned it, I never had any problem. Toyota asked for the airbag recall of the passenger side and my mechanic changed it in no time, while I waited. I did not have to leave my car.
Story
Oh, once I left my keys inside the car and did not have a triple AAA. So I waited and was looking around for some help. I was out grocery shopping. I went inside the store and luckily the manager of the store had a AAA, and he did not use it much. he called the AAA and they came and helped me to get the key out.
Pros
It gets very good mileage. The original A/C system is still running great. As soon as it is turned on it cools the interior. The trunk of the car is very spacious and it accommodates the spare wheel. In spite of that, it has tons of room for other things. I also love the after sales service provided by Toyota. Whenever I have a problem or the servicing is due, the factory authorized service station is an added bonus with friendly people and good technicians.
Cons
Sometimes the A/C does not cool the back of the car and people sitting at the back still feel very hot. Also, I would advise a back screen wiper which is not present in 2003 model. Sometimes I am troubled by the fogging inside.

2001 Toyota Corolla - Something that is advertised as being dependable but really needs to be properly maintained in order to run smoothly.

I bought this vehicle because it was quite cheap, and I was in a tough situation. It had 167k miles on it when I purchased it, but the day after I brought it home, I ran into trouble. The check engine light came on and the car would start and idle but not accelerate past 10 miles per hour.
Story
Right after I purchased the car, I was getting ready to drive it home. My girlfriend was with me at the time. We literally just paid the guy for the car, and we got in to leave. I turned the key and the car would roll over but not crank to start. The look on my girlfriend's face was priceless. She was so worried! Buying the car just to see her face was totally worth it.
Pros
This car is amazingly reliable. If you keep up with routine maintenance and take car of this car, it will last years! For its time, it was quite advanced having an outside temperature gauge in the dash. It gets excellent miles per gallon; even in its old age, I am still getting around 34 miles per gallon.
Cons
This car is notorious for having a leaky intake manifold gasket. When I first purchased the car, that was the problem I ran into. It is very common and quite easy to fix by yourself, which is what I did. I also changed the spark plugs and cleaned the fuel injectors. The latter would not have needed to be done if the previous owner would have done routine maintenance. However, the car runs like a dream now without any issues.

We moved to Hawaii from Los Angeles and were very apprehensive to find a good dealer. The owner and other person working here are very good guys. They not only helped me finding a very good car, but good service after the sale also. They were friendly, explained everything about the model and were allowed 'on hands' for an hour before I made the final decision.
