2007 Toyota Highlander - Made me a fan of Toyotas

I have a 2007 Toyota Highlander, and it has been a reliable vehicle with very few issues other than regular maintenance. There haven't been negative surprises like major problems. It is a comfortable car to drive in, and my older relatives have no issues getting in and out, even though it's an SUV. There's not a tremendous amount of leg room in the back, so if you will have multiple passengers who need extra room, you might want to consider something else. It is a smooth, quiet ride. We didn't get the third row, and I'm glad because the third row in the 2007 Highlander seemed like it was only appropriate for people who were about 4' tall. The second row is ok for three kids or two adults. Other than that, it starts to get a little cramped. I have about 140,000 miles on it, and I antic... (more)
Story
I've taken the Highlander on multiple road trips. It's been a wonderful road trip vehicle. Room for a cooler and stuff in the way back, and it has a sunroof. It's a great vehicle for hitting the road!
Pros
I felt that I could always count on this car. It's very reliable. I've not put much money into it at all -- just the regular maintenance at the dealership. It's very comfortable. It's a pleasant ride. Best of all, I've had it for ten years, and it still rides just as well as when I got it.
Cons
The major negative thing about this vehicle was a choice I made. I got a light tan cloth interior. Several months after purchasing the vehicle, I read something that essentially said "Never buy a car with a light tan interior" -- too late! The cloth is completely trashed. Even small spills are difficult to get off. Even water spills leave a mark. Let me sum it up this way - unless you are one of the world's top ten neatest people, you will regret this interior. A second, more minor thing is that there are no air vents in the second row. The flow of air to the second row seems paltry, so wh... (more)

I like the body style of the Highlander. It is one of the first things that caught my attention. I have always driven Toyota vehicles, because I found them to be reliable, and the Highlander is no exception. I have never had any mechanical or instrumental problems with it since purchasing it. I like that the engine is powerful enough for anything that I may need it for, such as towing. There a few things that I don't like about, such as the reverse camera not having lines to indicate distance, but they are minor inconveniences. I would recommend this vehicle to a friend.
Story
I have lots of good memories of hooking our boat up to the vehicle and then driving to various bodies of water on vacation. Any road trips we have taken in the vehicle as a family have been fun adventures.
Pros
I liked the body style for the vehicle. I like that it has a reverse camera and integrated Bluetooth technology for hands-free calling. Although I did not get premium leather seats, I have found that the standard cloth seats are easy to clean, which is a big plus with children and pets. The vehicle also offers third row seating, which is a plus when the kids want space to stretch out. The vehicle also offers separate climate controls for the backseat in the event that the children don't want as much as air conditioning as the adults.
Cons
I noticed that the reverse camera does not have lines on it to indicate distance like most cars do. That is a minor issue but one that I have noticed. Although the vehicle gets decent mileage, it doesn't perform as well as I would like with gas prices being what they currently are. When the third row seating is engaged, there is not much trunk space left over. The tow package also did not come standard with the vehicle and was an additional cost. That was a bit of a hassle as well.

When I walked into the dealer ship the treated me as an actual person and didn't pressure me into getting any car. It was such a great experience and they where so helpful with any questions I had about the certain type of car I wanted.

I like this place because the sales people are paid a flat rate regardless of the price of the car they sell. This was good because they do not pressure you to try to get something more expensive than you want or can afford. The atmosphere was very relaxed there and they weren't pushy at all. They were able to help me find what I wanted within 30 minutes and they had the vehicle moved from another dealership 1.5 hour away for free. It was ready for me to test drive the next day.
