The story begins when my father passed away and I inherited his Saturn sedan. This was during the great parts recall; Saturn was so back logged and I was so uncomfortable driving the car that I opted to trade it for something else. I got a cream colored VW Beetle. She was cute, personable, and spacious, especially for a small car. The car did great for a while. Then the repairs started. It seems that the entire car is plastic. It is made fairly well but when something goes out a part cannot be replaced -- the entire unit must be replaced. I found myself spending about $500 - $1000 per repair (including the boot covers and axles). Not all mechanics work with the VWs either, since they require special diagnostics equipment. Going beyond that, the next issue that I have is with the pass... (more)
Story
I drove to an art show where I was a vendor. The others started at me as I pulled up in the VW, and I parked behind vans, trucks, SUVs. They were stunned when I opened the trunk and proceeded to pull out 2 folk up tables, a fold up chair, a collapsed tent, and all of my artworks. I got several comments on that.
Pros
Cute, compact, roomy, comfortable, and great for a passenger (just one; you don't want to sit in the back seat).
Cons
When it breaks, it breaks. And it costs a lot.

I purchased my VW Beetle Turbo used with two previous owners, per the carfax report they both had kept up with the car's maintenance. For being a 9 year old car the interior and exterior are still in excellent shape with minimal weathering on the paint job. The exterior still looks great with all areas remaining intact and safe. The interior of the car is in almost mint condition with minimal wear. I love the large dashboard and extra large windshield which makes me feel safer when I drive as I have more visibility than in other vehicles I've driven in the past. The dash is nice with adequate storage area in the center console and a locking glove compartment - I know my personal items will be safe. The trunk is also relatively spacious considering the size of the vehicle as a whole. Th... (more)
Story
Driving down dark canopy roads at night with the sunroof open on a cool night.
Pros
Heated seats, large windshield, safety features like indicator lights, gas mileage.
Cons
Only two doors, back seat is rather small.

David Maus is a great dealer and he is an honest guy. I felt very respected when David himself was at the dealership rather than not being there.

We knew exactly what we wanted going in. We told them. No messing around, they made it work. The dealership itself is neat with old VW's in the showroom.
