Well I own a 16 year old Volkswagen Passat that has the 1.8 engine with a turbo and a five speed transmission. It has the dark green color option. It used to have brown leather interior up until I got tired of it and went to the junk yard to get black interior seats, carpet, and a dashboard. I also removed the resonator and put in an aftermarket exhaust into it. On top of it all, I swapped out the hideous stock rims, and put in some nice European black rims with performance tires.
Story
I was able to do a lot of burnouts in it for the first time the day after I got my license.
Pros
The pros of owning the Volkswagen Passat would be that you have a sense of pride of owning such a reliable car that you will forever enjoy making memories in. Also, the pros include saving money on gas, having a huge gas mileage range, having a fun to drive car, having a lot of space for not only the driver and front passenger, but for the passengers in the rear seats as well. On top of it all, it's clutch lasts for years! My Passat is more than 16 years old, still using the original factory clutch it came with and it's still going strong to this day disregarding the fact that I use my Pas... (more)
Cons
The cons are that you will always be paranoid of something happening to your Passat or your baby. The cons are also that you will most likely have to replace your turbo down the road at some point due to the smoke your car will start burning. Other than that, the only other con I can think of is that you will not want to get rid of your Passat if you were to own one.

We had researched the Volkswagen Passat for years and wanted to find a diesel model. We located one online that was a one-owner, well maintained and low mileage. We had it checked out by our own mechanic, who found no problems. We have owned diesels previously and found the engines to be great quality and have a long life. This model was known for having a few "bugs," like a leaky sunroof, but the previous owner had taken care of all of them and we have had no issues. We have owned it now for two years, and except for routine maintenance, have experienced very few problems. We average about 40 mpg. It is compact, yet has a comfortable interior and handles well. I'm quite short and have no problems handling it.
Story
When we travel, we don't travel light! We decided to take it to Florida for a month, and by the time we had it loaded, you could hardly see the car. But it had no problem transporting us and all our gear.
Pros
Great gas mileage. Compact, yet a spacious hatchback area and comfortable seats. Well built. Comfortable bucket seats.
Cons
When we do need parts, they have to be imported and are expensive. Our model doesn't have automatic seats, and that is a bit of a pain. The electric door lock on the passenger side sometimes messes up and has to be reset. You have to take it to your mechanic to have the transmission fluid checked - no stick.

Everyone at the dealership is super friendly. The workers always try to get you the best deals. Some workers will give you discounts on parts. They have reliable transportation while they are working on you car. And it's right by the light rail so I can drop my car off and take it into work!

The thing that I liked about the dealership was that the people there were really nice. The salesperson was very genuine. The sales person was very knowledgeable about the product that he was selling me. The dealership was very neat. They also had pets in the dealership which took some of the stress out of buying an automobile.
